Ok... well I'm going to get some wire fir the steering and some micro connectors for the battery and motor...

and for the Receiver I already have (in the pictures) I'm going to cut down the pins and direct solder the wires (I'm not going to use it for anything else anyway) for the servo and speed controller (when I get it) so that everything except for the wires can fit in the cab and I'll run the wires through a hole into the bed

I just wish I had ordered JST connected parts in the first place....

they take up a lot less room

By thw way Diets,,, I see some guys using monster truck tires on their TTTT trucks... where are those from?

if the truck is ready, i don't use connectors, because they need too much room, even the JST.

Best thing is soldering with (ultra) thin wires.

There are two supplier with different type of tires.

do the infared rx/tx allow for proportional steering/throttle?? I've just assumed they don't but I could be wrong.

The infrared system is fully proportional as well.

But there is one significant difference to FM. You can drive only one truck in the same area. There are (usually) no different channels.

diets - you have to drive serial not parallel

Diets is right.... the infrared is full proportional... but there are only four channels availble from the places that sell the components....1.2.3.and 4... and you can't really drive though tunnels and stuff (though I HAVE driven my Digi-Q's behind objects....and you COULD make the insides of tunnels reflective or white so that the signal can bounce around and still hit the receiver)

But you get steering control and built in ESC in a very VERY small package, no antenna... and with some infrared Rx's you even get lights and stuff

I cheated....LOL

by the way... all I need now is the micro ESC I ordered from Germany and I'll be finished with my first TTTT Truck...everything else is in place on the chassis.... I just need to test it...then finalize the wiring and wrap it up and paint...

then when my infrared gear gets here... I'll start on my next one...

I'm going to have two man 5T's (one RC and one IR) and a Roco 484 eventually....(waiting for the special two-axle gearbox from TTTT-Parts.org to be released) I might do a MAN7T when that axle comes out too

luckily I bought that box of Herpa off-road truck tires....

Tunnels, etc. are not the main problem, because you allways have some reflections of the infrared signal. Try it with your tv set ir controller

I can point anywhere in a small room with my ir transmitter, without any serious problems.

The ir system from www.ttt-parts.org has four channels, that's true. But you can't drive two (or more) cars at the same time.

The only advantage is, that you don't have to switch of a car, if a second one is running on the trial modul. If you try to use two transmitters at the same time (even with different channels), they would interfere. That is because they all send on the same IR frequency (normally 38 KHz).

Unlike to the "normal" FM Systems, with different subbands (27.045 Mhz, 27.095 Mhz, etc .)

@akura2
Did you manage the steering? New pics? Maybe a new thread with your truck and your progress?

Nice tires! I hope you use them only for a mold. Because they are definatly to hard. You should use silicone or latex tires. They will improve the climbing abilities of your trucks.

diets - hill climbing without silicones? no way!
