can the new generation be upgraded to accomadate more cell?, adn is there a volt limit like on the older ones, that would be awsome if it was hight voltage maximum

not sure. i was never one who like the 6-cell upgrade. it seems cheesy. you could never really race anyone fairly. im sure if you shoved 2 or 3 more batteries in anything, it'll go faster. the point is to make your car go faster with better motors, turbos, etc.

The extra cells may give you more power, also with more weight along with it. Lithiums on the other hand, I am sure sometime, someplace, someone will stick some in it. And then sell an "upgrade" for it.
I always thought of these as a hack more than an upgrade. Mostly because these go beyond what these things were designed for originaly.

thanks i had no luck finding somehthing useful so i just sniped the wire connecting the 2 holders and soldered in another holder in curcuit, i had to crazy glue the rubber on my tires b/c they kept flyin off, but the bad side is that if ur in the street , leave room for braking , b/c some idiot watered there lawn and the lower curb was all swampy and my car got stuck in it and was full of mud , so after i redid the whole thing it was good, and with 6 cells it the perfect weight instead of getting lithions, and does anybody know if the ball bearing are worth it for the xmod?

i found out that the mini z is 135 grams and the xmod evo is 120 grams.but you also have to weigh in the awd kit but i don't think it;s going to weigh 15 grams.so the xmod is lighter and the battery set up is way better then the mini z.im just hopping that the gearing is good from the pics i seen they look better then the gen 1.for 60.00 dollars it looks like a good rc

I don't understand the posted weights. I know that a Mini Z is lighter than an Xmods. My best guess is the Mini Z was weighted with the batteries init and the Xmods without those in it. This is about thew only way I can see this through. I know that without the batteries in my Xmods it is still almost as heavy as my Mini Z's with the batteries in them.

you can find the weight for the mini z awd on the kyosho site.that is with out batteries.your weighing the old cars the new mini z is heavier.but like i said in the post you also have to weigh the awd kit for the evo.But i don't think it weighs 15 grames

Ok, I see what you are saying. I can understand the AWD weighting more. those weights don't take into account the bodies, do they? Even the Xmods bodies weigh more than the Kyosho Mini Z bodies. And some of the Kyosho bodies weigh more than the other Kyosho bodies, I am sure some Xmods bodies differ in weight as well. I think the reason I say Xmods bodies weigh so much is the changable body kits and all those screws. Even one screw may not weigh much but you add as many as you find in an Xmods body it adds up. Even Kyosho bodys some not all do have a few screws in them as well. When you are running a car as small as these things a few grams here or there can make a big impact. A 3mm driveshaft can add that magic 15 grams very easly, that is in the Evo's AWD kit. On the older Xmods that was already in the car, it had to be there to line up the gear for the motor. I think the Kyosho AWD center shaft is a tiny 2mm shaft. Even with all that it is still hard to see a Mini Z that is heavier than an Xmods. The weight must unclude the body and the Xmods is without the body, it happens when you get information from different sources.

yea your right about the bodies .but i think im still going with the xmod it looks like a good car and for the price you can't beat it .plus i have a iwaver board so i'll stack fets and do some better wireing .cause i think that mini z is going to be atleast 180.00 i'll have to wait cause it's going to be another month till RS gets them in.

I will say that the new Xmod EVO is a greatly improved design over the gen 1 models.
I'm mainly into road couse racing and have both Xmods and mini-z's. I'll have to say that the EVO is a great improvement in both handling and steering. I would be able to tell how much better it has improved if it came with/or worked with a better controller. I fell that most of the cars difficulty in driving on track has to do with the poor quailty controller rather than the design of the car chassis itself.
I feel the car preforms pretty well on my RCP Track (high grip side) and once I installed the bearing and AWD kit. the Car tends to roll very little, compared to without those items. I have been very impressed with the improvements that were made, especially the turning radius. I did have to use double sided tire tape to keep the tires on the wheels.
In my opinion it's a great value for the cost. I would recommend it to any beginner to get involved in Mini R/C racing, especially one on a budget.
