Head-on collisions

I'm curious if anyone has any anecdotal stories about results of head-on collisions of their XMODS with either another vehicle or a wall. I've run my texalium all-aluminum car into a transmission sans body that bent my front lock plate and suspension arms, and a head-on collision at full-speed with a stock car with an AtomicMods SS130 that also bent a lock plate (the plastic car came out OK). I haven't run any tests with stronger motors than a stage 2, but I'm curious what kind of damage folks have experienced. I'm getting a batch of heavy-duty chassis' in a few weeks that I can spare for head-on collisions with maybe a Fatboy/lith-io combo with full knowledge that I will destroy at least a body and a front lock plate and possibly suspension arms. I mainly want to gauge the strength of the chassis, but I think it'll provide an interesting look into the "worst case scenario" for a wreck given a lot of weight moving at a high rate of speed.

I'm real curious to know what parts are most vulnerable to damage. I know the GPM front lock plates (at least the mid-body RSX one) need beefing up where there's a 90 degree angle going up (I've been 3 of them now...I have 5-6 of them). The suspension arms are generally OK as long as you race with the body, but I'm betting if the body gets broken enough, the arms would take a hit; the rear ones are the really weak ones, though. I suspect the front shocks will get decently trashed (at least the springs will) when the lock plates goes, probably stripping the screws in the process. Depending on how sturdy the aluminum AWD wheel shafts wind up being, those'll probably get hammered, too; I *know* the plastic ones won't survive a wreck like that.

My bodies have generally been OK. I lose the sideview mirrors almost immediately (but hell, my brother's Enzo lost one in 5 minutes) and streak the front left and right bumpers (my paint jobs will be including rubber grip tape at those points) plus the miscenallous scratches when I don't race on a track, but nothing really bad. My friend's 350z had been through hell and back (head on collisions with walls and my tank of an NSX) but only has minor body damage and mid-level paint damage on a custom paint job. All-in-all, the things are much sturdier than I would expect.

THIS IS FUNNY, I was at my friends house with my skyline, was goin dow his drive way, really cracked, causes BIG bumps, I couldnt see the bump at the angle I was at, and I was full throttle, hit the 2 inch piece of cement, the car bottom was at an angle like /. no lie, I later relized that I had took out a chunk of the front bumper and put a big crack up the rest of it, I also broke my knuckle bottom, lost a screw or two and bent my front clip. I thought it was funny.

you know those entrances to the sewer? the big round plates? my xmod ran over one of those, and got ripped to shreds from the grated metal on it... the whole chassis was BLOWN APART!, so now i use that xmod for "spare parts" :-P

Head on crash

The other day I ran head on into my buddy at with both of us going at full speed. Apprently the collision was hard enough to lock his steering up. He ended up having to trim his chassis to get a better fit for his aluminum tie rod.
