Atomic Mods Motor

At www.atomicmods.com i was looking at the motors and i noticed the 180S High-Torque it was 10 dollars and u had to use it in a long drive shaft car. (good for me because i have a skyline) But in the details it said u had to leave out the rear part of the heat sink so it would fit and u should use a 11 tooth pinion.

But my question is do u have to use an 11 tooth pinion and do u have to put on capacitors??

And is it really woth 10 dollars??

Please send pics of what the motor looks like inside the car.

its worth it if u want torque, and no u dont have to put on capicitators. u dont have to but its recomended because it has so much torque that if u use a pinion with less teeth ( more torque less power) then it would have a torque overload and cause burnouts, spinouts, and horrible top speed

I have a couple of those motors, and you shold solder on capacitors. Get them off on your old RS motors...

I think this one has a 9-tooth on it. It is a snug fit for sure, but it accelerates pretty good. The SS130 is a much better motor IMO. I have a couple of those, too, and they rock.

Here is a pic...

I used a pinion puller. I bought it from AM, too. You can solder the stock harness on the new motor. I upgraded the wiring to 18 guage.

The capacitors help with interference from the motor to the steering servo, I believe. You may notice some servo "jitter". It doesn't really cause any harm, but it is kind of annoying.

The motors will have tabs on them to solder the wires to. Looking at the motor from the top, the red wire goes on the right side, and the black wire on the left.(see above pic)

Here is another pic of one of my other Li-Ion cars...I love these things...

oh, yeah, you will probably have to glue your tires on, especially with the SS130. The first time I ran mine, the tires blew off!

Any of you run the AM SuperStock 130? A buddy of mine got it and says it runs extremely slow with stock power (4 Ni-MH AAAs). He eventually wants to put 6 AAAs on, but he isn't sure if it's his motor that is deficient or his power system.
I need to post my wiring system soon. I finally got battery holders for my lith-ions, and the wires on all of my harnesses go backwards, over the rear deck plate, with the ability to plug the turbo in between while everything still sits out of view or flush with existing suspension lines. Just need a good motor to go with it

Check the above posts...

I have a couple of SS130s and those little motors rock...your buddy may have an issue with the motor. Anyway, I have only run mine with Li-Ions and it freakin' flies. I think Rob at AM suggests using it with the Li-Ions.

I have one that is a 10-tooth and the other is an 8-tooth. The 8-tooth accelerates like a you-know-what!

Not quite sure what you are asking...

If you are keeping the stock wiring, simply remove the wiring harness off of the stock motor, and solder it onto the new motor. You need some solder and a soldering iron.

Is that what you want to know?
