Question zipzap and zipzap se?

i am looking to buy a zipzap, but when i looked at them i found out that there are different types. what is better zipzap and zipzap se? what is faster? why does zipzap se take longer to charge? which one can be modded more? which lasts longer(how long do they last?) i would like a comparision on both of them.

Zip Zap SE's are the newer versions. I'm pretty sure that they are faster than the old ones.

no

actually-having taken apart both and worked with both- i have to say the original (plain zipzap) is a whole lot better.there r no unneccesary lights which dont light anything at all and take away from battery power. also the steering is extremely faulty on the se and the newer versions of the zipzap(not se) feature a lighter chassis which makes it even faster. although the se has more power because of the batteries and electonics the excess weight of the electronics and complicated steering components choke the preformance. also the se looks very bolky and not sporty at all. i would have to say the original zip with the wide tire kit a nice motor and some good gearing will definately make you happier...

hey guys btw has there been any pl out there ripping the guts out of an SE and shoving them into the original?

actually, the new ZZ's are not faster. the new SE's are way faster. i just take the lights out and lower the body. the new SE's will smoke any ZZ stock. much better control, much more speed, only $5 more. if you like slow, simple driving, get a reg ZZ. if you're more into rc racing, get a new SE.

OK, here's the prob with SE's (I own 2 SE's). When you buy them, they are pretty much hit or miss. The problems to look for are: twitchy stearing, short battery life (from car), and wierd stearing. I finally got a car with left and right turning radiuses that are both good. Get the Mustang Mach1, Ford GT, or Viper. Good luck finding a good one!

Yes, radio shack is generally very good about exchanging the cars for you.

Its very unusual to find a car without the twitchy steering (usually called steering chatter). When you run the motor the front wheels will hunt back and forth. This happens even when the motor is not installed. I suspect that the problem is with the software more than the electronics or components, so there isn't much that can be done about it.

However, the steering should be fairly even to both sides and all the wheels should be on the ground (make sure the rear axle is fully inserted if this is a problem).

Radio shack often has an SE or two on the shelf as demo units, you might be able to take yours in to compair to those to see if its acting strange.

Do you know if RS refunds faulty steering? I got a ZZSE that just has a hard time turning on one side. One of the wheels doesn't always reach the floor
If you simply tell the nice people at RS your ZZSE is "not working correctly" and you have the receipt they will gladly exchange it.

I got a original zz, but if you live in the states or if someone can ship it to you from the states then get the new zz se's, iv heard great stuff about them. Also in canada zz se's are 39.99 + taxes, which i think is a ripp off especially because there the older ones. SO if you can get your hands on the newer ones then i suggest you try the se's out.
