got my 2 se today, kind of deception...
Hello,
me and my bro got our GT and Viper today
first run whit my GT was really great, it was quick in any direction and ready to flip at any time if i turn to much
but it took very little time to get problem, the "shell" front pin give a little tension on the chasis and now it cant turn right, i have to tape it to relieve tension...will probably grind a new slut in the sheel
if the shell is not there it still turn way more to the left than right( approx 2 feet radius on right), tough both have approx 5 step
now the car are slow, and stop moving even before the battery is over because of "hair" from my 2 dogs, so always have to clear everything and we are good for another 2 min. but even after carefully cleaning everything (exept unmounting front wheel from the shaft) my gt is much slower than firt run
also i dont really understand why it was so faster the first run, and if i remember correctly both side turned well as it flipped on both, but that may be due only to speed, not sure..
any suggestion on what to do to have it fast and able to turn in both side in small area?

Did you try putting brand new batteries in the controller? Sometimes this helps add run time.
For your speed question: Did you check the pinion gear? It is the little gear atttached to the motor. Dog hair and debris can get wrapped around the motor shaft. This will cause the car to slow. If you are REALLY careful you can slide the little gear off and remove anything that has accumulated between the motor body and the pinion gear. BE WARNED THE PINION GEAR IS VERY small AND CAN BE LOST VERY EASILY. So be VERY careful!!!
I'm not too sure about your steering problem. If you cannot fix it with the trim on the car or the controller, return it to RS for a new one.

clean the tires and the front wheel pins. traction has a lot to do with steering. even on my clean track, i have to clean off my front tires to keep my steering good. open your car up and move your batt around a little bit. sounds like you're driving on a dirty floor. very bad for these cars. trust me, i have the same problem sometimes. also, clean the steering gears with an old clean toothbrush. that effects your steering alot.

Yes i have cleaned the pinion gear quit often
seem like a part of the speed reduction is caused by the front wheel where debris are stuck betwheen the wheel and its mounting piece...but this is seem really tricky to unmount:/ any trick? ive removed all i can from exterior...took 20 min per wheel
also, do you generally recommand puting oil on the various gear?
im gonna make a track and clean it before any time i run the car on...

Sounds like the sticky front wheel could be part of your steering problem too.
If you search the zipzaps forums here, there are directions explaining how to pull out the front wheel pins/axles. It seems to be a process you can only do once or twice because the axle is threaded in a way where if you remove it, you end up opening the fitting up more each time you pull the axle.
I use a little graphite lube on the drive gears. It is actually a powder not liquid. A little messy, but better than using an oil product that will attract dust and hairs.

Ok worked on it the last hour
1 - speed problem
as i tough the problem mainly came from the front wheel, as i started removing them, the majority oh air/dust came out pretty easily using a razor blade, ive also pryed it a bit to allow more room so futur hair wont be so tight
speed is definatly better, not perfect, but much more acceptable, that also helped one part of steering problem
i now have 5 step left and 7 step right...and botch radius is around 6 inch
the steering problem wich block the right movement when the sheel is on was still there, i used a mix of filing/hot deformation so it apply less pressure on steering components, the motor still rush more to turn right that left, but at least it turn.
by charging it 2 time in line it was speedy enough to flip when turning, not as much as first run but at least it did. btw can charging it more than one time can cause damage to electronic component? i know next to nothing in electronic.
so pretty much solved the problems
thanks for your answer

I noticed this too. It seems like the motor will affect the how sharply the car turns. 5/7 is a pretty good steering ratio. you might be able to tweek the trim on the bottom of the car to get more steering steps. If you turn the steering wheel on the controller and there is some 'play' b4 the wheels on the car turn. Try turning the screw a little to see if you can take out some of the 'play'. You can fine tune on the controller if the car drifts a little after you make the adjustment on the car. This has worked for me on some of the older SEs, But I'm not sure if it will work on your newer GT.
Good thinking with the razor blade. I'm sure prying the axle out a little will help too. If you have some needle tip tweezers they work for pulling out hairs, fibers and other junk.
I'm not sure if double charging will damage the battery. Personally I have double charged all my cars and haven't had any problems. I think I read somewhere in this forum that it is okay to double charge your battery. You should probably check around though. Or maybe someone else has the answer??
When I double charge I don't really notice a difference in speed, but it definately runs longer. Maybe a little more speed, but my track is only 4'X8' and has a lot of turns, so I don't really get to go full throttle too often.....

you can safely charge up to 3 times without a problem.

Hmmmmm...Or, you could grind a new slot in the shell. But, your idea sounds like a lot more fun.
