Superflex as antenna lead
Anyone try to use 18 guage superflex as a replacement for the antenna lead? I'm building a new board, and I want to use the same wire everywhere, but AtomicMods said something about the factory wire being tuned for the frequencies involved, but that was just as a response to improving range. All I'm after is asthetic improvement with no degradation of range.

Thats odd. I have been using "superflex" aka. multimeter test probe wire on 2 of my cars for about 4 months now and the only thing I have noticed is that the range on those cars are better than my others. I am not sure if it is the wire or if those 2 cars just came from the factory bettter tuned.
Hmmm. I will try changing out a stock wire and see if there really is a difference or not.
Just to make sure we are thinking the same, are you talking about the wire from the receiver that goes to the screw location for the antenae?

Yeah, that's the one. I had to add a custom connector, anyway (using the RC Butler antenna, which required me to cut my own plastic screw that is a #4 as opposed to the #2 of the stock), and the connector works real well with the superflex, plus it's just a hell of a lot sturdier than the stock wire.

I'm curious if that wire would really make much of a difference either way, anway, as the antenna itself should be important part, right? I'm going to go ahead and build my next board with the superflex 18 guage everwhere, including the antenna lead. If the range ends up being messed up, I can always solder the old wire back on.
