Supercharged Mustang

This is the second 2x8 supercharged mustang I’ve built. Unfortunately I have to part with it since it was built on commission, I hope the east coast is kind to it acid rain and all.

Weight 188 grams, top speed with red gear set 47 kmh (29 mph), handling lol like a 65 mustang.

• Lithium Ion Batteries, 3.7 volt, 650 mAh
• Front Deck Turbo w/ 2x8 IRF 7389 FET Stacks, and Orange Deck Lights
• 4.7K Steering Mod
• Plasma Dash/Iwaver Pro Hybrid Motor
• AWD Upgrade Kit
• GPM XM-039R Alloy Rear Wheel Shafts, Blue
• GPM XM-041 Alloy Rear Differential Axle Cups, Blue
• Low Profile Blue Alloy Wheel Nuts
• VXB Bearings
• Cut-out Hinged Hood
• 9 tooth Pinion Gear drilled and tapped with 2 set screws w/red bevel gear.
• Micro light set by LBRC.

I’ve built and modified several Mini-Z’s for the owner, a self confessed Mini-Z addict, who this time wanted an Xmod that wouldn’t disappoint him. I decided to try for a balance between show, speed, and drivability, it’s just my opinion but I think I did it. 8-)

It’s just what I call the monster 2x8 FET stacks on the lighted front deck circuit board. Since they stick through the hood calling them a turbo seems inappropriate. Although it is also starting to refer to an external turbo with a voltage regulator that lets you power the receiver at 5 volts and the motor at the battery voltage, this one will take up to 20 volts or 5 lithium cells.

How much? ($)

Make a list of the parts needed, I'll make it myself. I want to try adding 2 rechargeable 9v to my Supra.

With that voltage regulator, though...2 rechargeable 9v (8.4v actual output) should work fine, if the regulator can handle 20v.

The problem with 9 volt rechargeable batteries is that they are made of 7 AAAA cells, and have no amperage or current to speak of so yea you get 16.8 volts but with nothing to push, what you get is all spark and no go.

It might help if you think of voltage as the speed at which water is traveling through a hose, current as the amount of actual water, and the motor armature as a water wheel. It takes a mixture of water velocity and volume to really get the wheel spinning. If the water has no speed the wheel won’t turn very fast no matter how much water you have, but too little water and no mater how fast it moves you won’t have enough force to turn the wheel.

Where? Sorry but that’s a problem, you can’t really. I made a few for friends and clients (nothing to do with Xmods) people who wanted a fast and flashy Xmod for their collection or track, but believe me they paid for it not necessarily with money but business, favors, or friendship and usually all three. I consider making one from time to time but they are a bear to make and take way too much of my time. As for a tutorial that would be a waste, if someone has the ability and equipment to make it they wouldn’t need directions.

If you absolutely have to have one and money is no object email me and I will consider making you a complete turn-key car, that’s about the only way to make sure it is working right before I mailed it. But be warned my time is valuable to me.

Although you never know, I put extra parts and such on ebay from time to time.

Of course you could always make and design one yourself, one of the local community colleges classes is doing just that.

There are a couple of good external turbo’s being sold, they are not quite as flashy but should work at least as good if not quite a bit better.

Will something like this help a stock motor and battery setup? Not noticeably, although the Woahnelly might.
