longest wheelbase setting

I just tried to set my car up on the longest wheelbase setting last night (heard it helps reduce traction rolls) and um... it didn't work. I think I'm missing something obvious, an unwritten rule so to speak, but when I did this, the steering bar that connects the 2 knuckles rubs the body posts, not to mention preventing me from using a bumper. Are you supposed to swap the knuckles and have the servo to the front of the car and the steering bar behind if you use the longest wheelbase?

Using a hitec 56HB servo on this btw. Replaced a beat up DRR servo and man can you tell the difference. Very smooth little servo in my limited experience.

I think I figured it out.

Look at the ball joints on the knuckle bars CONNECTED to the Tie rod steering bar. You ll notice 3 total holes on the knuckle bars these are obviously used to adjust the placement of WHERE the tie rod is adjacent to the rest of the steering portion of the chassis. Instead of using the settings that is all the way towards the outside of the knuckle bar. Move the ball joints in 2 holes towards the sterring servo. This way you should have enough room that it won't rub against the posts or bumper.

understand??

Yea, I get it, should have thought of that myself. Is there any disadvantage you can see to doing that? Are those holes there to help accomodate both servo and body post clearance?

My only thought is that it might take more torque to move the wheel not directly attached to the servo (leverage is a bi***), but even then I'm not sure since you would also gain torque on the tie rod on the servo connected side... I'll give it a shot and let you know.
