I have been running xmods for about 3 months now...I just ordered an IWAVER...

I got sick of xmods because the lack of hop ups/upgrades. To get a good amount of power from xmods I had to install 2 extra cells. I don't know how to install FETS or turbos or anthing of that nature.

I bought an IWAVER B/C it was only $55 shipped with lights and LXX motor. I hope to get hop ups for MR-01 and/or MR-02's. I don't know which parts will work.

I am hoping to get it to run faster than my 6 celled xmod without any turbos and/or fets.

This will be my last R/C in a looong time. I'm going to only run it indoors so I hope it lasts

What are all your thoughts? Will all mini-z parts work with the (silver)skyline Iwaver?

the iwaiver....ah i was looking into getting one. but i was to sure on the quality. because it is a clone, i have my doubts. also they say that the iwaiver parts are compatible with the full mini-z parts.

well newbitowner, if is a good as it says to be, I will have one shipped to my house!! But I will always be a loyal fan of xmods....no matter what.

please tell me if the iwaiver stood up to your expectations.

I too wanna know about quality. I drive the wheels off my cars, including jumping them, so if they gotta be durable for me. My xmod has only broken knuckles.

i already got my IWAVER today.

A stock skyline goes 19km/h. The "LXX SCALE HIGH SPEED ESCALATION TYPE MOTOR" will go only 20km/h with the stock pinion. The car runs so smooth.

I have some Q's were would the power for a light kit come from? Do I connect it to where the motor gets power from?

I should have bought an H-plate and tires and wheels. Which H-plate and tires and wheels should I get?

the light kit was not easy to mount...no directions or holes.

I had to drill in the holes. but the handling is great and everything else.

one really bad thing about this iwaver is that there is no rear suspension.

Here's my mini review from MZR in the I need a clone thread.

The Iwaver does have a flexible H plate in back just no springs or damper. There is quite a bit of flex but the ride is a bit bouncy on rougher surfaces.

I just got back from my first round of Iwaver bashing and this is one tough little car! By rights I shouldn’t have been roughhousing it as much as I did. there is no way I'd drive a 260.00 CDN Kyosho like that!

I ran 60 minutes in 2 sessions 35 minutes and 25 minutes with a very heavy throttle finger, read pinned a lot of the time. I was outside in our complex ripping up the sidewalk the street and the concrete patio at the club house.

This was a lot of curb jumping up and down, the small rounded kind, shredding on aggregate and hammering up and down the street. The pristine black paint ain't no more its battle scared as it should be, both mirrors are gone... hmmm… didn’t notice the drivers was gone until just now. The top half of the wing was an early victim of my rough play. I’ve seen arch2b and some others say they lost the mirrors on their OLs within 5 minutes and plenty of mirror less racers so I won’t hold that against the Iwaver. Wow, I even managed to curb all 4 wheels!

The session ended when I knocked the crystal out of the socket and wedged it into the chassis. This was due to a violent crash, the last of about 50 crashes for the day. I was going full throttle down a hill steep enough for it to roll down on its own. It hit the curb, flew through the air landed on its nose, bounced landed on it side, bounced and landed on its roof and slid to a stop. The body never came loose or cracked! I think all of the crashes before the last one helped loosen the xtal. I never pushed it back in after any of the crashes because I didn't think to do it.

I just plucked it out with my tweezers and put it back in, she’s ready to play again!

I can't tell you how fast it goes exactly but my Mini X with full bearing kit is definitely faster. Mind you the X has a 5 cell pack. The Iwaver is very manoeuvrable definitely turns tighter then the Mini X. I wasn't on a track, I don't drive that well yet but it handles pretty well.

Judging by the grip on the concrete and the pavement I'd say the stock tires are pretty hard. The concrete expansion joints and the texture of the pavement do bump around the little Iwaver around quite a bit they are all jumps! I think it will need an after market rear suspension kit and some softer tires to tame the bouncing. Hmmm I do have an OL suspension set sitting here, a rally Porsche would be too cool!

The little Porsche got its nose stuffed in the dirt too many times but that didn’t cause any problems. Range is good all the way up and down the complex, probably about 1/3 a city block, no glitching at all.

In the parkade I did Rockfords, 360's, figure 8s all over the place. I slalomed the concrete pillars many times and slammed into them hard enough to knock batteries out several times. I forgot to put the clips on but it took quite an impact to knock them out.

Actually I'm surprised the Iwaver isn't broken. If you're looking for a trainer car this is a good bet especially since you can up grade it with Kyosho MR-01 parts. I don't care what anyone else around here says you can not go wrong with an Iwaver! Buy one and you'll probably wish you had at least two.

For fun factor and laughs per dollar I'll say it beats the Mini Z hands down just because you're likely to approach the Mini Z more seriously and drive more cautiously.

I don't think I'll drive it every time like I did today but you never know! I am planning to do some speed trap type tests to see what the speed is. I also have an escalation motor so I’ll try it too. I'll answer any questions you have that I can.
