I'm a handling freak and is currently practicing Xmod manuevers in tight situations with a stock starter. I should have taken a video of my parking practice, it's Xmod driving at it's worst! (well, I don't have a 1394 port anyway).
Still gotta get used to the controller. Currently practicing amatuer controller draws

I agree, many cars look great with no spoiler on the rear, i think spoilers ruin the smoothe lines on the car body.
BUT, i use a XaNaVi Nismo body with a big wing on my mini Z, and it helps keep it stuck down to the road, only because my mini Z is highly modified and travells at speeds in excess of 45mph / 75km/h.

Because you're using an actual model, and not a mock-up like the stock bodies, I trust that the wing on your car serves a better purpose than the ones that come stock. It's just like if you were testing in a wind tunnel - the scale doesn't matter too much.
If anyone is going to have a wing on their Xmod, I suggest that they use one from a model like that. They actually work and probably weigh less than the radioshack wings...
Don't you think your model body on the mini z weighs less than the stock body that came with your x-mod?

I think racing is the best part of having an xmod since 4 of my friends have them. But I'm also the one building everyone's motor and fixing the cars which can be a pain in the arse. The pic attached is my beater supra with too many games of chicken, it hit the wall arse first at full speed popping the body off and many rolls caused all the damage. I left the spoiler on because they look good and are functional on the real car.
Spoilers are functional on a street car if they are made for performance. The supra's wing was designed to keep the car down at high speeds. The tt model can achieve over 160 mph where downforce is necessary. For me they are an accessory I use. I've hit 145mph in a BMW and numerous runs above 110 in various cars. We've had my friends 240sx(silvia) up to 128mph on the freeway through a sweeping turn. He added an aluminum spoiler which doesn't look great but he does autox the car and we are going to a couple of open track days. If you drive fast or race it is a necessity.

I would buff out those marks with a dremmel, if I were you. They are probably nothing more than surface abrasions.
It won't look as good as it did when you first got it, but it won't be as hard on the eyes as it is now.

just a note: autocross cars almost never get above 40 mph. the courses are too tight. I go to autocrosses often, and i almost never get out of 1st gear (35-40mph at redline). so dont look for your wing to help there

what region sets those courses up???
im assuming youre talking SCCA Solo2....
anyways, here in the Chicago Region SCCA, we have a lot of long courses, some allowing me to get well up into 3rd gear (6-spd, if you didnt know). But those dont usually come til events 4 or 5 of the season.
What kind of car do you drive? i mean, if youre topping out first gear, is that where all your power is at? If you run BS with an s2000 or something i could understand.... but if youre running a very torquey car, you should try hitting 2nd gear more often.... and i'm rambling. stupid snow here... wish i could autoX my heart out all year

You do understand that they would have to put those wings on the cars, NISSAN would expect that RS is making quality models of their cars.

He should leave the marks, they add character.
All hail racing scars. I need to get an updated shot, my front clip is nearly gone now as well

i find more enjoyment out of hitting full speed right before a wall, bump, ramp and sliding sideways just to see what it does.

I've auto-xed with 2 chapters in Virginia, in SCCA solo2. Even when there is room for a long track, both chapters will still pack it full of twists and turns. There might be one straight where some cars can get to maybe 70, but then its back to 30mph again for the rest of the course. Speed = danger, they're designed to keep the speed down. I think SoloI is where theres supposed to be some speed involved. Basically, some of the idiots that show up for auto-x cant handle speed, and would harm themselves or others.
I drive a 2002 neon, my power is between 3.5K-6K with a 6.5K redline. I normally dont get a chance to hit the revlimiter in first, except for the rare straight I mentioned, where I do shift. But downforce isnt going to help in a straight anyway

I'm an auto-x fanatic too (DS champ in two regions last season, ran 17 events)
Buuutttt..... This is not the forum in which to discuss it. Probably better to start a thread in the 1:1 scale cars forum.
