I need to vent
It's absolutely unbelievable that RS cannot keep up with the demand on these. I have searched a 250 miles radius around my home and not 1 RS has any AWD Kits, Light Kits, Suspension Kits....etc. And the online store shows out of stock on everything too. It is very frustrating to have the money to spend and can't find what you want. It's time to ramp up RS. Get your stuff together and stock your stores. OK I'm done venting....I thought this was gonna make me feel better...Denise!!!!!!! Get me the Radio Shack president on the phone!!!!!

Historically, radioshack and most other retailers have a sh*tty selection of toys for about 2 months after x-mas.

Well my local RS says it gets a truck every Friday and Xmod stuff is being replinished, but they also say that people wait around and buy it as fast as it comes in.... They only get a limited amount.
If near the end of February I can find this stuff, then I'll believe it was Christmas, but I'm skeptical. Thanks for your input.

OK I stopped at a radio shack today and got a little more info. It seems there are a couple reasons for the lack of stock. One being Christmas but that isn't the major reason. According to this particular fellow...RS just didn't anticipate the popularity of the Xmod and didn't produce enough. They are however trying to correct it. He also mentioned the release of three new models in May. I have read about that on this forum before so that will be no surprise to most of you. But what I haven't seen here is a rumour he told me he had heard. He said they are going to be coming out with American Muscle Car versions of the Xmod.
COOL!!!!!!!!
Anyway I guess I'll just wait patiently for RS to catch up with the demand.

I'll bet
Seeing as how it's cool as hell and they'll beat the damn thing to death for 2 years, just like the PT Cruiser, I'm wagering on it being the 2005 retro-stang. Also, not anticipating the demand is a bunch o' BS. Remember how popular the ZipZaps were when they first came out? Those things were out of stock for like 6 months!!! They knew damn well.

Well, I just hope this popularity translates to larger numbers at our local racing night. Turnout has been dismal so far.

If they went ahead and produced even just half as much as is on demand, and for some reason the market didn't grab at it the way it has, RadioShack would have lost simply unimaginable wads of cash. They're playing it safe. From their end, it's not like making people wait it a terrible idea - sure, you're all mad at them, but you're still giving them your money.
