I'll be using an independent battery, not the cars power. Also I need to know how to set up an on/off switch for it.

i don't think it would look good. And i really don't see how it would be feasible, since most of those lights are really big. And besides, most underbody light kits are different colors other than regular, and the only kits that have all one type of light are the regular lights. For example, if you wanted purple lights, there is no way to get all purple lights unless you get a multi-colored light kit and take out all the purples and somehow splice them all together in one string and somehow fit them under the body. And you'd have to do that at least twice to get it on either side, or more if you wanted it in the front and/or back.

The bulbs are removable. You could get a short string of 6 bulbs then remove all the bulbs so you are left with sockets. Then you just plug in the bulb color you want.

Well yeah, that's true. And if you get it to look like there's not light bulbs under there, but rather one continuous row of light, then that would look good.

If you guys are too lazy to try the straw+LEDs, Wavejake RC is looking into releasing some.

 Haha....
Sorry, but the point of it is that it dosen't look like a neon. It looks like a light directed straight at the ground, and even has a fade like its only one light.
True ground effects or neons go the length of the car, or illuminate the entire underside of the car, basically replacing its shadow with glow. In order to do this, you need the light to come from all over, not be concentrated into one spot.
And yes I did look at the site, but didn't see any pics of the kit itself, only the demo pics with it mounted to the models, and I just wasn't impressed. They did a good job with the wheel well lights and the under hood lights, but I didn't look deep into how they did it, and maybe they look good on the models, but would have no crossover into anything RC, since models generally have no moving parts to contend with.

Why not just use the light kit itself, reroute the leds to shine under the car in each wheel well, maybe slip those little rubber led covers that are coloured over it for the colour you want... or use stage lighting gels to create the light effect?
Just an idea.
I was thinking about using the parts I originally got for my Bit Char-G light kit as my underglow kit. I was just going to put light coat of coloured paint over the led and then run them down into the wheel wells. THen tap it directly into the battery.
Havent tried it yet however.

did anyone ever think of even splicing the wires on the light kit and just running some wire and LEDs off of that?
you could like put two on each side facing one another on each side of the battery pack like this LED [ ] LED and put like two on one wire and two on another
since it was my idea if someone makes on ill sed them money and buy one if theyll build it lol im to lazy to build anything i just make ideas

I did that a while back (have to search for the post), and it takes way more than 2 LED's to make it look like light coming from under the entire car.

could you just have 1 LED and use electral tape to tape fiber optic strands to it? Then arrange the ends of the strands around the car? I think this would make a more even under glow, and one led wired to the exsisting batery wouldnt eat up too much power. just my 2cents

ok i have yet 2 ideas for underglow... the first is hard, take some clear straws and cut the to length, then cut a lil peice of aluminum foil and sneak it in the straw, have it only covering half of the inner straw, then do B.C's led splice and place a led at both ends of the color of your choice... i dont know the results because i havent tried.. the second came to me last night, i was messing with my phone and saw a little stick of light (the screens backlight) its small, bright and runs on low voltage, im not saying tear apart all of our cell phones for these but ill investigate where to buy these back lights... ill report soon!
