FYI:
You can use the battery holder from the chassis, and it will fit on top of the chassis and you can put the Civic body on without any modification to the body or chassis. If you don't have a spare chassis to rob the battery holder from, you can order a replacement one from RS.

Yep, just tried it. Slapped the body on and snapped the tab lock without any problems. No bushings needed or no need to shave anything on the body.

Here is a pic of where I mount it. This is without a heat sink on the motor, but there is a gap between the motor and the bottom of the battery holder the sam as the height of the heat sink.

Check CJ's FAQ for more numbers...
EDIT: I forgot, you do have to remove two little tabs on the bottom of the battery holder, but no biggie at all.

6 cell
Hey Bad Company,
I got a bit of a problem. When i install my 6 cell mod it flies. When ever I install my 6 cell mod and logic lights it fries the antenna internals and the range gets shot. Im on my 3rd car now cause I can never find why this is occuring. Just to make sure i was not shorting out everything, I replaced my quick disconnect with the quick disconnect that is used on the motor. I also tested the final output with a voltameter and evreything is in range. I got a new car but i am hesitent on weather I should re-install it or not. Please help me BC

I haven't tried to hook up the lights on mine, after hearing about this problem. I would say just leave them off untill we can figure out what is wrong. I'm not much of an electronics whiz, so I may not be too much help, but I'm sure someone here will get to the bottom of it.
If we could only get a wiring diagram?

For what it's worth, I gave a pair of lithium polymer cells a shot last night and all I can say is WOW!
|
Hey FESCSteve
where did you find your lithium polymer cells, I've been looking for weeks to get some.

Jamez,
The cells I used are both 1200mah E-Tech and a 230mah cell I am testing out that is not on teh market yet.
The 1200's are just barely too large to fit under the RSX body in place of the stock AAA cell holders. However the 230 cells fit in the top of the body with room to spare.
I also have some 340 Kokam SHC cells which are a bit larger than the 230 cells but will fit on the sides of the chassis.
Get the 340s at:

2 in series will make this car cook. just be aware that you should run a stage 1 motor with a heatsink if you are goign to run it all out for more than a couple of minutes. THe stage 2 motor gets pretty warm at this voltage and I doubt it puts out any more power to the wheels due to effeciency losses.
Also know that the cells will be ruined if they are discharged much below 3V per cell (6v for a pair in series) so you ar eon your own there. They also take a specialized charger to charge and take an hour or more to charge.
Just some of the drawbacks, but they simply can't be beat comapred to lithium-metal, nimh or nicad cells.
