Tattoo themed RSX

I've become pretty well known for my 1/64th scale flame jobs, so I figured people would expect a little more from me working in 1/28th scale.

Oh yeah sure, I could have just went nuts with the flames, but I decided to try something that's a little different for me.

I did a barbed wire graphic down the sides. This would have been a lot simplier if I had done the graphic in the silver base color, and painted the rest of the car, but I wanted to leave the car silver so I went about it the hard way. The white fade in it was a mistake, I grabbed the wrong can of paint, but it worked out nicely.

To tie the hood together in like a tattoo type theme, I did a tribal graphic, which was a pain in the boodie to design, and thrice the pain the cut. I usually cut on glass, then tranfer the mask to the car, but this one was too intricate to get off the glass. So I had to re-cut it on the hood. Which is hard, because you can't press too hard and cut into the plastic, also because you can not make any mistakes. The paint was giving me issues, but it turned out pretty nice, I'm happy with it.

Nice job. I always like to see people who can do graphics and striping with paint rather than vinyl. It just looks better, IMO.

Nice work as usual crazydave, you are a true master at painting. It was your tutorial that got me started, and I thank you.

I saw this over at BP and glad you decided to show it here.

...and beerbarf, don't you worry, I have no room to drive inside, but honestly, since RS doesn't sell spare bodies, and I love to paint. I hope this does get messed up, so I have an excuse to sand it down, and try something even cooler.

I saw some real cars where the graphics on the car, contiued over to the CF hood, leaving the CF exposed in the

Well thanks BC, that's a heck of a compliment.

But hey, we learn from each other, right?

Now I gotta go shove some extra batteries in my Xmod.

Oh well I've been pretty smooth with the ol' paint for a while now.

j/k

I use Duplicolor brand automotive touch up sprays. It is a laquer which dries thinner than the enamel.

Really the paint wasn't sticking to the stock paint very good, it was spreading out, and I had to lay several coats to even it out. So the paint on this car actually thicker than I prefer. If this was on a 1/64th scale Zip Zap you'd notice it a lot more, and I would have gone nutty with the clear coat to hide it. I didn't clear coat it, because I was afraid the stock paint would have the same effect on the clear coar.

My friend painted his supra with that type of automotive paint and it turned out 10 times better than mine did. I used testors paint and an airbrush(friend also used the airbrush) and his was way thinner and nicer than mine. If I had to do it over again, i would have gotten the same type of paint he did
