Track making help needed!
hey everyone
me and my friend have recently got into bit char-g and last weekend, we decided to have a go at building a track. We used a large square cut piece of wood i found lying about about, some felt grass type stuff etc..
This is our first track and is kind of a "practise" for a bigger on we will one day make.so far, weve got the design done and the track painted. We just need help with a few little things
1) we want to make a bridge (yyou will see when we post pics) and we need to know the best way..
2) we need a good idea for how to make bariers, and can anyone give me the link to a site which has sponsors which you can print out and stick ( like on Driftkings track if youve seen it). Ive been on a website with them before but ive lost the link
3) Any other neat touches/ideas you may have
Pics will be up soon..
Ps we have our hols in a weeks time, which is when we'll get to finishing our track

Track pic
Ok, heres a pic of the so far completed track
this took us a weekend to make and for a first attempt, its allowed to be naff
There is alot more work yet to be done - things like a brdge still need to be completed(where the red line is), full barrier around the track, various finishing details, and a pit garage +lap timer are in the works...
Near completed pics in about a week...

You can use cardboard, layers of popsicle sticks, or the ZipZaps grand prix course as walls. Microsizer and Bit Char-G walls suck.

Hey Audi TT
thats a sweet idea. Can you give me some detail? i.e what you mean by "2 level" and that foamy stuff. You're right, a mountain /would/ look sick!

What to come...
1)Bridge
2) Track Markings
3) New Pit lane and Building
4) Over haul of Track surface (polish etc)
5) barriers to cover rough edges
6) Scenery
7) Trackside obsticles
8) Lap Timer
9) Barriers
10) Loadsa Advertisements!

Re: track
Hey to anyone whos checkin the progress of our track
t'other day, my mates dad had the BEST idea for Barriers and now we have them up, with advertisements and they look amazing!
Also, we've made a pit building, cleaned up the track a little, got some advertisement boards up, the lap timer fitted and made a corner with a sandtrap!
pics will be up soon and a special thanks to Mr. J Hatton for his brillian handiwork making the barriers...i have yet to see anything like them....

This is what I call the layman's track (lazy track and cheapo track)
I make my walls out of construction paper and tape them down. Bridges are made of cereal boxes or other cardboard boxes with suppurt of toothpicks.

Sooo, are you going to tell us what you made the barriers out of? I always figured I'd just use some posterboard glued with contact cement, that was my solution to the cars getting stuck on the foam walls of a modular track.

well i know its too late now, but next time for the barriers, a good thing to use is foam core. You take a big rectangle of the stuff and cut downwards -----------
| | | | | | kinna like that but all the way, but dont go thru the stuff, then you cut thru the foam horizontaly
so you end up wiht a long strip wiht cuts goen downwards so it can form to any shape you want. And when your car hits it no damage will be done cuz its so soft.

That is a good idea. I will probably use that idea for the barriers on my track.
