does your zip do this?!?
i have 2 zips, and they both lose significant speed when turning to the right.....left turning is fine, and they both turn w/same radius
i thot it was wheel rub, so i removed the shells and it still slows down only with right turns.
i tried different gear sets........same
different axles........same
different tires.......same
put the matchstick mod under the rear axle........same
lube with air grease.......same
microsizer wheels all around........same
pullback wheels all around........same
different batts.....same
different motors.......same
it is very noticable with faster motors....NX3.4 and king 4.2, even 28k
anybody got a schematic of the pcb?

Check your rear axel.. You could have broken the glue on one of the wheels.. That would cause it to slip alot when turning.. They little cars do lean alot and it could slip enough to affect handling.. Maybe that could be your problem..

dr1zz-
The same damn thing happened to me too with my new 350z chassis. The power loss was significant and it reminded me of the 1st PCB swap i did and had accidentally soldered one of the steering wires to the V+ contact on the PCB. That little slip up, created a major drain on the battery! Once i relized this with my brand new outta the box ZZ, i cracked that baby open and started to gently move the steering wires away from any harm doing position. I figured that one of them was rubbing up a little to close to a positive lead or the PCB and viola no more drain!
Good luck

nitro- ive tried everysingle axle and gear set i have to no avail...
kwibb- that sounds interesting....i will try that out and resolder if need be.....i thot there was power drain and wanted to look at a schematic to see if there is any difference between left and right steering........almost wanted to do a mosfet mod.....
thx again....

Dr1zz I have the same prob. I have considrable power loss and it goes reallly slow when turning to the right. I don't get it, it was fine a few days ago.

maybe there is some kind of metal dust that collects at the magnet below the chasis....try using the zip zap without the body...and see if you get the same results

i think it is because it puts extra strain on the motor since it is left side drive. the left wheel has a more direct force from the motor so there isnt as much flex as the right side recieves. this causes it to track to the right much easier. kind of like tanks, if you push the left tread forwards, it turns right. know what i mean? to overcome this, mod your zip to like 2 or 3 cells and then it is so powerful that it spins out both ways no more uneven steering

it steers very even both ways, just power loss on right turns....
i've just resoldered all the wires just to make sure.....but it still is the same.....
on bits, both black steering wires are attached to the +vcc
on zips, one is +vcc, and the other is on L. is this normal?
ive added a few mosfets.......same thing but its even faster now

One of the coils could be drawing much more amps than the other. Did you put mosfets for the steering as well?

yep, i fet'd the steering ones too.....one got fixed and steers great, and one is still screwy........
and i ohmd out the coils, i forget the numbers.........but they measured pretty equall.
i even bought a new zip, just to see if they all did this........but this one steers great too.......so im hesitant on fetting this one.

your axle support is getting worn on one side more than the other...

i dont think its has anything to do with the motor transfering power to the wheels, because i have tried different axles, wheels, gearsets, motors (shimmed/unshimmed), and i put the matchstick to make sure the axle isnt sloppy.
i can hold the chassis and run the motor under no load and still see a significant difference only when turning to the right. i dont get it.....
at least one got fixed, but i dont know how it happened. i resoldered all the wires on both. i guess ill just have to try another pcb, prolly gonna put in a MS pcb.

well, i resolder all the wires once again, but this time i cleaned out the solder points with a solder sucker.
the problem has been resolved.....somewhere there was a short on one of the steering wires.......
now i have 2 completely fet'd zips that haul and one stock........
steerinig is awesome.......now i flip turning both directions
