your motor is a 3.0 but like microspeed said it acts like a 2.4 to 2.8 and the gears locking is because the lxx is crap, follow comerade boris' advice and get a hop-up kit at some local toy store

I just got one of these and they are definately worth the money they are just as high quality as the bit and microsizers so if you are thinking of getting one, don't, get a few these are worth more...

You could also take a Q-tip and dip it in nail...
