Vette Body Problems
K. I jus built a Sb hybrid motor, and put it in my vette. I ran it for a little while with-out the body, just to see how well it works, and then i wen to put the body on, and it doesn't fit anymore! I left the batteries in theri original place, the bottom plate is in the right spot, and the motor is all the way down. Does anyone know what my problem might be? I can get it on if I push down on the back bumper pretty hard, but it just slipped on before.......

I know you said you got the rear plate in the right holes, but are you sure? The symptoms you describe would only be caused by the rear plate being in the wrong place. Just a reminder, the Corvette is a long wheelbase car.

ya. the rear plate is in the right place. When i try to put it on, the clip will stick through the hole it's supposed too, btu not enough. It acts like the back has been raise abit, but it hasn't. I'll take some pics and post them.

check the motor mounts and stuff, also the plug and wires could b the culprit

here's a pic. See. the clip doesn't poke out enough to latch!

Looks to me like you have some stuff in the way. Try moving some wires around a bit to see if that clears it out.

i'd almost bet your hitting the motor plug

Any other ideas? |
The Vette body is extremely tight in the front under the windshield. The servo and the crystal are a very tight fit. Make sure your electronics and everything is screwed down all the way. This could be causing that issue...
If you want to check, remove your hood and put the body back on. That way, you can see in there. |

turn your rear engine mount around then try......

I bet you are right. That damn motor mount is backwards, I bet. Good call. We'll see....:D |
I'm certain I put the engine mount on the right wya, but I will check when I get home. I'm pretty sure that's not the problem though. I'm gonna bring it to my school tomorrow to play with, so i was hoping to get my body fitting right before then, but if I don't, oh well then.....

i had a similar problem with the 04 cobra. took me 30 minutes to figure it out.
the battery holders needed to be all the way back.. having them forward, they were getting stuck on the front mount of the side ground effects, preventing the chassis from slipping in. once i moved the battery clips to the rearmost position..it all fell together smoothly. |
That is about the same as the '67 Camero. Only I can use the center or rear battery position, the front position hits on the front skirt mount.
