making drift tires anyone interested?

im thinking of making drift tires so you can drift out side. they would probally be grey, or if i painted them, maybe black. before i made a whole bunch of them, i was wondering if anyone is interested.

btw you would have to sand the ring off the rs rims.

if your thinking of making them out of pvc.. bad idea. ive tried it.

slideways 01-28-2004 04:19 PM

why is that?

skklown 01-28-2004 06:43 PM

i think pvc is a good idea. it works best with AWD.

the tires will be pvc based but the tire will be the same size as the stock tires that come with the xmod. im planing on putting tread on them. it will be three rings around the tire, so you could put your own tread pattern on. i am loosely basing them around the yokomo drift cars tires.

You'll still only get like 50% of normal traction. ITS LOUD too, when the wheels barely even roll.

I have tried it, and besides after a while the wheels grind down and i can smell burning pvc lol. Just trust me, its not much fun.

loud cars, worn down tires, and burning rubber(plastic), sounds like drifting to me.

btw how long did the tires last, and how loud was it.

slideways 01-29-2004 04:42 PM

i am trying to make them kinda like this

go to www.yokomousa.com

take a look at the drift car's tires they look like pvc or hard plastic
btw can anyone get the drift video to come up or download?

skklown 01-29-2004 05:47 PM

i haven't downloaded all of that vid yet but its awesome.
i think someone needs to watch it before they start talkin smack there is proof that it can be done and it looks like it works great

skklown 01-30-2004 04:08 PM

yup....i wanna get my xmod to drift like that

spitty12 01-30-2004 04:36 PM

Look at how slow they go in the video, it looks really gay. Try using tape on your wheels. I've used some green matte finish painters tape that worked well and duct tape works alright but it's hard to work with. With such low grip using pvc you won't go fast, you can drift all you want at 3 mph but how fun is that?

Go into your local supermarket late at night with hard tires and AWD. Throw some pennies down for pylons or grab a ball from the toy isle and play soccer, use a pack of maxipads for goals. That is the best drifting i've found to date. When you hear some one say "security please come up front" on the pa system that is your cue to leave.

yes those type of floors are good for drifts. if you are lucky like me and you live in a new house your besment floor is smothe concret. with some good batts and my stage2 drift motor i can do some mad drifts.
