New Xmod !!!
Listen,
Im starting to get in to the whole Xmods thing and i want to buy one...not too expenssive but im willing to put some good money into this. So my question is what should i buy??? I was thinkin of getting this: Silver 2003 Acura RSX AWD Upgrade Stage 2 Motor Upgrade Wheel Upgrade Rubber Tire Upgrade Kit Metal Bearing Upgrade Command Logic Lights Rechargable Batteries and Charger (not so sure about this) All this at about $145 is it worth it? or should i not even go for all this stuff?? |
Yuor good except for the charger and batts. You'll wan't Rayovac IC-3's. They charge in 15 minutes instead of 2 hours.
|
ok
ok thanks but is that all good stuff? or should i get like some different parts or something??
|
oh ya and where can i get Rayovac IC-3's off the net?
|
You might wanna add a suspension kit. You can buy IC-3's at Walmart or some stores like that. If you can't find it there I don't know where to find them off the net.
|
what about the bearings? im not even so sure what they do and if they come in an advantage at all
i was also wondering if i should get the rubber wheels or foam wheels? and does the car take normal aaa batteries or like some special batteries for it?? |
Here's my suggestion. Take it or leave it.
Get the car, lights, AWD upgrade and then invest in 2 good sets of rechargable batteries (the IC3s are good) and a charger. Now, go play with your car, enjoy it as it is. Take the upgrades in as you learn what you really need or want. I've noticed alot of folks go crazy and get the parts and then find they dont use some of the things as much as others. This way you are getting a feel for what works for you. IMHO |
Yeah teamdeadbunie has a good plan there.
|
Well you see that is a good idea...but thing is i live in Israel....and they dont really sell Xmods or Xmod parts here...so if I do buy one it will be shipped overseas and i cant ship every time i want somethjing new...so do you really think that i dont need all the other stuff?
|
the bearings help the wheels spin a little faster but its not real noticeable also if they get dirty you might find yourself putting the bushings back in. i would say get the suspension instead of the bearings, the bearings will probalby get dirty and not help that much in the first place
|
definitly do not get the bearings if you race out doors. it'll probably ruin them. i only race in doors, so the bearings dont get dirty.
|
i would buy all of it at one time since you live in israle
i would not get the bearings either they are not that great and if you do get some dont get the pnes radio shack sells they are too expensive and you can get better ones at a hobby shop for cheaper good luck |
im still in thise dilemma!!!!!
should i get barings or not!!! seems like they do something good...but also they get dirty and need to be cleaned all the time..i have some previous use in barings with my inline skates and they get dirty only if you like get them in mud or hard rain i think it is the same thing with here and now that i think about it i think im gonna not buy them now.. and later if i see that i need them i will just buy them at a local hobby shop |
Your location changes things. Since you will have to ship it all anyhoo, might as well get everything you want at once.
And as mentioned, avoid the bearings unless you race indoors exclusively. |
skates bearings are different. they are better quality and they are also sealed. meaning you cant look right in them and see the balls in the bearing. so dirt stays out alot better. i'd stick with no bearings but if you think its not going to be a problem go for it
|
nah
i decided not to go for the bearings i think i can live without them :)....but anyway this is what im gonna get
Acura RSX AWD Stage 2 motor wheel upgrade rubber tires and the command logic lights... think thats good for a begginer? |
you'll have alot of fun with that. you might not expect it at first but the lights are one of the best upgrades. its great driving xmods at night
|
yeah all good choice if you want to get bearings get them froma nother location not RS they are crappy and they are not sealed
My Custom Xmod Setup Mit. Eclipse Stage Two Motor Upgrade Tires and Rims from a model kit custom fitted to fit on xmods Soon to come 4 aa instead of aaa |
I was reading thru hop ups and found that they are working on bearings here that are sealed so the dirt will stay out, so if u find u need them I'd order them from here they said they were cheaper 2. as for the other stuff, Go 4 it i too would reccomend the suspension but I'm not too much 4 awd, it gives you more controll, but less torque, and for the record, I'd use the drag race motor, it uses less battery power and is (contrary to what radio shack tells u) faster than the road race and top speed motors. also, rs does sell 15 min. rechargable batts they r $15 for 4 pk of aaa's and the charger is $40
|
...
That's overpriced for the time. Energizer has a 30 minute charger for 30 and 10 bucks for 4 aaa.

what does it matter if its aa or aaa?
|
for that kind of money, consider a mini-z, a RTR kit starts at about 100 bucks and they have far better aftermarket hop-up support
|
The mini's are nice, but there is something about the xmods that I like better. I think it's because I can get into them cheaper and upgrade without too much problem. And not spend tons of money. Which is important since every penny I spend on XMODS is money that doesnt pay for food, gas, electricity, etc.
I do think I'll get a mini if I can find one I like just to own one. I like toys :) |
I'd be perpetually nervous if I owned a Mini-Z. All that money, I'd never have the guts to risk modifying it the way people do with XMODS. Not that they're really cheap, per se, but I'd feel less guilty frying one instead of a $160 Mini.
TRC makes bearings? Neat. |
I would buy all of that except for the metal bearings I would wait till tiny rc makes bearings because theyre cheaper and work better
|
AAs Will Run longer than AAA's because they have more power capacity, and they're not that much heavier
|
I would just buy the starter kit and the batteries, then see what you want to improve on.
General law of upgrading. |
the rechargeables are hard to find, but well worth it! They chare AA and AAA, they have lights that indicate a number of different things, and the charger folds into a tiny package. Oh, the pack comes with 8 AAA's They make your car fast as h*ll, i put them in a completely stock civic, and had it "burning out" on my carpet!
|
I found that once I got started with my XMOD, I cannot stop. I joke with the stores that they must be putting chemicals on the packaging to make me buy more.
I just picked up a tire set to add to my S1 and S2 engine sets, suspnsion/steering set, AWD upgrade, etc. I think it's time for a nother car! So Jofir, did you order your addiction yet? |
Lol, mine's always on the run, but I can't find the Body Kit for it! I've been looking for about 3 weeks yet and none of the 15 rs stores in my area have them, not even the online store!!! can ne1 help??bbgtr
|
Good luck Darklancer!
I've been hitting 5 different shacks here near me for weeks and none of them have had any new stock of anything. The only body kit anyone of them had was w/a RSX return and it was gone in minutes. I was told that the XMODS surpassed their sales expectations and supply by way more than they could handle so they are playing catch up now. |
