The New World of Desktop Racers
Intro | Puchi Maru / Digi Q | iRacer / Clones
By Namuna
From Tomy comes the Bit Char-G (pronounced Bit Charge). The Bit Char-G is being sold in the US as the 'MicroSizer'.
Even though the Bits offer no proportional steering or speed, they've taken the world by storm! By being the least
expensive, with the most options of any of the other Micro scale cars (combined), the Bit is also the most copied!

The Bit handles steering by way of an electro-magnet. When you press to the left on the controller, the magnet in
the car pulls the wheels to the left, when you press to the right, the magnet pulls the wheels to the right.
There's no varying degree to the steering though so you have to adjust to how the car steers. There's also no
varying degree of speed, the motor is either going full speed or not at all.

Street Price: ~$30-35 (less for not so popular models, more for Special Editions)
Pros:
Least expensive Micro scale car
Many upgrade options; Motors, Bodies, Rims, Tires, Gears, etc...
A huge fanbase all over the world
Many modification options, with support from the fanbase
Tomy is giving lots of support to the Bits, with new models and upgrades scheduled in the coming months
Being non-proportional, the Controller is tiny (compared with the gun type controllers of the other Micro scale cars)
Miserly battery needs for the Controller. Only 2 AA batteries needed.
Cons:
No proportional control, makes maneuvering in tight areas hard
Using NiCD batteries (in the car), the Bit has the shortest run time at only ~2minutes (though many people say that with proper conditioning longer runtimes are possible)
Many Bit owners say the range of control, between the Car and Controller is very short
Not very fast (even with the fastest motor available and speed gearing, the DigiQ is still easily faster)
No on/off switch on the car. The battery will lose charge, even when not in use.
