Using Model Paint

I have a whole ton of Testor's paint, the kind that is used to paint model cars.

I am thinking about buying the Skyline in the near future, and living in Canada, the only Skyline at RadioShack is yellow.

If I sand off the clear-coat on the body, can I use that Testor's Model Car paint to paint the car whatever color I wish?

It would save me money, then I wouldnt have to go out and by an airbrush or spray set up.

You could use it, but it wouldn't look nearly as good as if you were to use spray cans.

buy one of the cheap testors spray kits. its a paint jar a can of propelant and a trigger setup that clips onto the propelant. its what i use. you dont really need to do anything to the body. just primer and paint it.

$10 can get you a cheap testors spray kit. They clog easily though.
Air brushes start at $30 or $40 for a cheap Testors.

hmm

I might invest in a decent kit, and use it with my models as well.

very true. i pretty much wont be spraying anything till i can either get a mini booth set up or its at least 68 degrees out. other than that i have to un plug it every few shots of paint.

Two things you should do before using those paints is to add a cap full of paint thinner and to strain the paint before you spray it to get rid of the clumps and it shouldn't clog if you do this
