Auto Charger

I am not for sure if anyone has tried this but I just built a prototype auto charger. What I mean by auto charger is that I can drive my car over the charger and it charges. This was accomplished by adding 2 flexible wires from the bottom of the car so that when it is drove over the charger it makes contact. I use some thin metal strips for the charging rails and wired that to a 3-AAA battery holder. I will be adding this feature to my track so that when I am running low on juice I can just go into the pit and auto charge with out touching my car. I will post some pics for everyone to see how this was accomplished. Please note that this is a prototype so the look of it is not very pretty.

Sounds like a good idea but you'd have to put some guide rails so that you drive right into the charging area.

That is the plan. In the charger pic you can see that I have stacked up some Lexan so that the tires will be guided onto the charger. The track version will have a wall that will help guide the car + the charging strips will be much longer so that you will not have to stop on a dime when trying to charge.

What a brill idea! imm not sure about the trailing wires under the car cos of poss short circuits against metal,
but as u say, its a prototype.

But this is a brilliant idea!

Never having 2 get out of the chair!

Heres some pics of a car charger i have 4 another car-
When u place the ccar on it,the platform goes down and the car sits on the charging plates.
If u made something like this and put ramps on it u could drive on and off!

scottyboyfun, I am looking for many suggestions from everyone. As for the metal contacts on the bottom of the car...They do not touch the ground when the car is being driven. But I do understand that a better idea is in need. Thanks for the tip.

Good idea, but change the wire thing.. put it on the charger insted and put some long kontakt under the car so you wont get shortcut.. i dont know if you got me.....

One thing about it, i only think it will get some sec of charging... you will have to drive in to the "pit" all the time, right??

This isn't just drive over and go. You would have to stop on the charging strips to get a full charge. The purpose of this is that one would not have to touch the car during a race. The down side of this is that every car would have to be modified to get this to work. If I am the only one with this mod then I would have the advantage.
