Soften up your tires!
I was reading R/C Car Action magazine at school today (why a H.S. would subscribe to this beates me, but I'm not complaining ) and I saw this tip for making tires softer. It said that if you soak your tires in WD-40 for an excess of 30min then wipe them off they will be softer, giving better traction. I haven't tried this yet because I'm out of WD-40, has anyone else? I'll post my results as soon as I can get some more WD-40.

I think that softness is from the oil destroying the plastic.
With a good supply of tires, it's a killer idea, because you can just throw them out when they got too funky.
But it will definitely degrade the plastic over time.

Yes, most petroleum products (oils) will destroy rubber. WD-40 will prob. make many rubber compounds soft for awhile. Howerver, if allowed to dry out, they usually become extremely hard. Keep in mind that most of the whores in R/C car action don't pay for the toys they play with and couldn't care less if they ruin equipment in a single run. WD-40 will also make an R/C car motor run like a raped ape for one or two races and seal it's fate in a trash can afterwards.
