My bad, nice job on the math, but how would you calculate dual battery or motor mods, or perhaps say a 6V BATTERY MOD!

That would be at the motor's rated RPM: no load. Not even a pinion gear. There is no practical way to average in power loss through gearing, extra rotational weight of the pinion gear, axle/wheels and tires, etc.

The only way to judge the speed is to clock it through a speed trap, unless someone has a radar gun. Treadmills are fairly accurate.

The best way is to actually measure the speed. If you want calculations go to the MS website they have a calculator, but it only goes up to a 2.6 motor. It also dont work for multi cell or high voltage set ups.

Again, that does not take parasitic loss into account. It simply calculates from the motor's rated RPM in a frictionless fantasy world with no variables like conductivity, air density, voltage fluctuation.

Clock it!

We get that Friction unsprung weight it takes away power, but if you want an idea of how fast your car goes use the math.

Okay, I just did a 3 cell (in the belly) mod on my new Zip Zap. This thing was faster than my 3 cell microsizer. It's set up with my favorite "super torquer" clone motor, and the blue (low) ZZ gearset. I do stress testing on people with heart conditons, so I use an $18,000.00 treadmill every day. I clocked my ZipZap at 7.5 mph. I wonder what it would do with the red ZZ (fast ) gearset...

Anyway, by your calculations for bits at 1/70 scale, it's running around 525 mph. BUT the car is slightly larger, so at 1/64 scale, it's running 480 mph. Either way, it's kinda fast. Oh yeah, it has enough torque to pull the front wheels for a bit, even with all 3 cells in the belly.

I think I'm gonna do a 4-cell twin engine Zip sometime...

By the way, when I mean twin engine, I don't mean hooking one up to reverse and using 2 different motors. I mean use 2 identical motors, and hopefully get some INSANE torque.

if you can find the scale mph on any website divide it by 64 to get the speed.

Okay, here's what I have found about Zip Zaps and high voltage... Don't try to run 4 cells! You will burn out your forward circuit. I put 4 cells in the belly of my ZZ and now I just have reverse. So I switched forward and reverse and now I have a 4 cell 3.8 motor drag racer. I just need a body to cover it. I think a P.T. Cruiser will cover it okay.

My ZZ 3 cell with red gears is going 7.8 mph with my faster clone motor. Not the Pink one, it's a little different.

Using Algebra, we can quite 'easily' find the speed for what ever distance you want to use as a measurement.

3 Steps...
1. Take the run distance (in feet) and multiply by 3600
2. Take that number and divide by your runtime (in seconds)
3. The answer is your feet per hour

- You can divide that by 5280 for actual MPH
- Or divide by 82.5 for Scale MPH.

If you want even SIMPLER...Setup up a run distance of 20feet 7.5inches and divide whatever your runtimes are from 900 and that's your scale mph!
