to be honest?
don't know what you're talking about in the "show" circuit with Legacy. Legacy is a serious joke. So are the low line sony's.
Even the high line sony's are a waste of money, reasonably speaking.
Also, what's the point of having a 34" speaker? That takes up a rediculous amount of space, would require way more power to run than would be worth, and also, the airspace necessary to be efficient. The truth is, two comp. level Fosgate speakers running over 1200 watts a piece is a SERIOUSLY painful situation to be in.
If you really think XPLODE are good, you haven't been in a car similar to mine, MUCH less a competition car. In the competition cars, you don't even sit inside of them because the pressure would be enough to deafen you if not kill you. (in some of the db drag cars)
drop bottom without bottoming out? hmm.. steal that phrase from someone? say "track six, woofer excursion test. This track will test the ability of your woofer to drop bottom without bottoming out" yeah, I have that bass test CD too.

looks like i opened a whole can of worms... haha, well i prefer vintage but their isnt much vintage for cars... at least that can play mp3's, my dream car setup would be a iopener with a awesome amp and an 8 or ten inch. i dont have a a lot of room because its a truck. i havent checked up on brands and stuff yet but i need a job but ebay is great for making money that combined with garage sales.

hehe ya i was listening to that song when i was typing damn winamp. 34" would only be good if you designed an spl van like the kicker astro with 11 10" soloberics it hit like 174 db damn thats loud. the box that the xplods are in is made with concrete (pics comming soon) so they sound pretty damn nice and also remember that this is 2 12" xplods in a standard cab my friend owns. where the hell could u put 2 12's u ask well between the bucket seats imo i like the sound that those subs put out tho it could be the concrete box. his dad has 2 10" xplods in his stang and they sound terrible even for 10's. the next big spl comp in calgary i'm goannna try to convince my friend to get metered just to see how loud they are.

yeah, you're right, they would sound good in a little standard cab. I've got a PT so it takes a little more to make that thing boom. But I don't know what the advantage of concrete is, it's a poor sound insulator unless it's really thick, and it's too heavy to be worth it. Comp boxes are typically made with either composite board or fiberglass with matting and dynamat insulator.
Not sure where the concrete idea came from, and it's interesting, but not really a great idea. I'm pretty sure the concrete would absorb too much of the sound and not reflect it enough.
anyway. I'm done talking about speakers. anyone want info about stereo in their real cars is welcome to E-mail me.

to midget man... either his car was crap or the guy lied to you, because i've seen some of my friends in comp with much more than two sony explodes.. and it takes a lot to break glass. A friend of mine had 4 JL 12s and 4 JL 10s (along with a mass of 6X9s but those don't hit contribute much to the bass) and 2 1200 watt amps running to the 10s and 2 1500 watts running to the 12s caps on everything, so max power, 4 batteries, one for each amp... and this kid blew out all the lightbulbs on the rear end of his truck. (explorer)... but didn't break glass.
and to HogJowls, you're absolutely right about loudness and fidelity. If that was a comment about sounding good vs. boom that i stated earlier, I meant sounding good in reference to a lot of bass, not fidelity. sorry.
