Blue Ford GT (600-7051). Ran for 9 minutes & 17 seconds on one charge with a Cadillac Escalade body with lights and sound connected.
|
I'd say this is the top end of average run times. 5-10 minutes is the "runtime window" if you will, and is what I find to be the norm.

Orange Mustang (600-7054). Ran for 24 minutes on one charge with no lights.

This is a very good runtime. Not sure what makes that chassis do so well, but you seem to have one of RS good mistakes there.

3 rd DB5 (600-7081). The most I can get out of one charge is ~ 19 seconds without lights.

That's got me stumped. I've never bought a ZIP, SE or otherwise, that had a charging problem. My son-in-law had a reg. Zip that had a leaky battery. It charged irratically and I found out the battery was the problem when I cracked it open. I guess I've been lucky with the charging faults.

Azimov,
You are indeed a wise man. Four of my five ZZ SE's had a major case of the grumpies and I was about to can them all when I followed your advise and changed the batteries in the controller as a last resort.
Fixed all of the problems.
The funny thing is that my first ZZ SE, that is much used / abused / modified continued to run just fine with the old batteries. Now it runs even finer.
Thanks,
Hugo

well i've had one of these and now i am experiencing 10 sec runtimes! it seems this is a commen problem as i have found other peaple with this problem. it charges quite quick and then 10-15 secs of runtime. i have fresh batts in controller and tried another car batt and still same thing. i think this has something to do with the fact it is dualed and no off switch. any ideas ppl, has anyone here had this prob too?

Lets revive a dead thread...are the wheels or hubcaps rather, removeable on it just like all other ZZ?
My dream would be like a 3 step propro each way on the steering...which could be done with a motor in theory...AND maintain the propro throttle. That would be the best. All of the SE's Ive had are very unpredictable when it comes to steering, and you have to get used to it.

well the wheels are the same as reg zz with hubcaps and stuff. the idea of the three steps for steering sounds nice, especialy for these size cars u dont need to many steps. shoot i can live without stepped steering i just need at least propro throttle. as far as these cars go and the se's especially, i think they need mini diffs.

You are correct, I mean arent all of the Zipzaps for kids? For the most part. And this is exactly why the body will go on a zipzap for my son and I will try out the new chasis as it would seem (from this thread) that it is an improvement on some level. Thats my story and Im sticking to it.

Y'know, I always thought RS made a mistake in the way they market Zips. They seem to be trying to market to children with the Cat in the Hat and Wild Thorneberrys stuff. And, at the same time, they are making pretty cool muscle cars and foreign sports cars for the older hobbiest
I think the kiddie stuff is a mistake and they need to save the licensing on the cartoon character cars and put more effort into pushing Zips as cool miniature RCs. Instead of the Pixar campaign they should have done Indy cars, or maybe a line of utility vehicles like tow trucks and ambulances.
To me, the Pixar cars are just another example of how RS corporate excells at screwing up. Most people don't even realize the new Zips are improved 'cause they can't get past those big stupid grins on the cars faces.

I don't see what you are saying about the 3 steps each way. My zips get 6 steps each way.
I don't think zips are just for kids. When rs made the zips, the main people they were trying to sell to were kids. But more older people seem to be the bigger audience because of the ability to race and mod which makes it seem less like a little kids toy.

I was just saying, that I dont feel they got the Propro on the SE's dialed in. There was such a lack of consistancy. Im saying, make the Propro a little less wide...3 steps each way is plenty for this scale. (in my opinion) I just wish the new ones had prop throttle.
