in the long run yes. you also risk reversing polarity on the battery.
i dont think it will blow up right away if thats what you are asking.

Alright, I decided against the tri-cell series/parallel combo

I just took out the internal battery and ran leads out to a dual-cell pack taped to the top of the car. Whoo! It's all that!

Even if it is a little ugly

It's going to surprise the heck out of my coworker when I race against his Zip this afternoon....
