kay..this weekend i sanded the track down some more and drove it, its lots of fun. I used a bullet 3.0 with harder tires and soft stabius thing. It worked out pretty good, on the long straight i could launch one jump and sometimes make it down the landing of another. Pretty lucky though. The car also flips a bunch.
Hey..right now i am working on barriers for the track, which is steel 1/4" screen cut into strips. This should work pretty good i think, and give the effect of a chickenwire kinda fence. If anyone else has any ideas, that would be great.

Catfishy, I can't wait to see it finished. This has to be the most unique track out there. You have to give me all of the details on what you used and everything. I plan on making a track and this is the one for me. See....this is why I hang out here all the time. TinyRC.com has the best ideas for this hobby of mine. Damn I love this place!

dunno, i like the challenge of trying to get around the track without flipping, it adds another dimension to driving.
alright...someone asked how i did this track..
I used a piece of plywood and measured and marked off where i wanted the track to be. I then put temporary cardboard barriers around it (you probably don't need to do this, it just gave me trouble). Then, using a whole bunch of Durham's water putty mix, i put a smooth, pretty flat layer of putty down, and let it dry. I got bored of the track for like 2 months after that, and let it sit forever, but the stuff dries completely in like 2 days. I then used spray-on foam insulation (like you find in the attic sometimes) and sprayed blobs of it in the area i wanted the hills to be. This stuff expands to be over 10x its origional size when it dries, so you don't need a whole lot. After it was completely dry, I used a serrated kitchen knife and trimmed the foam WAY down, so a bit char-g could conceiveably roll over it when it was finished.
And, just a couple of days ago, TheFanMan came over and we mixed up some more water putty, and covered the jumps, making the hills longer and driveable.
WHEN YOU PUTTY THE JUMPS: very important. Apply putty somewhat smooth, and then wait about 10 minutes or so, or after its not as shiney anymore, but still wet, kinda like a soft bar of soap. Then, use your hands and smooth it out as smooth as you can (see the pic, these pics were before hardly any sanding, just with my hands) so it is easier to sand. Cuz sanding takes forever and uses really heavy grit sand paper, and its not much fun.
WHEN MIXING PUTTY: Make small batches at a time, because it dries fast. make sure you mix it thoroughly, and it is not too runny, it should be like slightly soft frosting, it holds shape.
WHEN SANDING AND FINISHING: use a car that you don't mind getting dusty to constantly check clearance on the hills. Its no fun when your car gets stuck coming up one. Also, if you have any huge mistakes that are not sandable, you can use a dremel, but the stuff catches on fire if you dremel too constantly...so give it a break to cool down every once in awhile.
And thats all i have done so far, more updates when i get there.
