he means you can make it look like an american muscle car (dodge charger), which would be kind of backwards in my opinion. The whole point of the skyline set is to have a skyline!! not a charger...

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't like the 2000GTR very much? Sorry, I don't like old cars as much as I do newer cars. (Civic, RSX, Integra, etc, etc)

Ill grant yah Rotarys, wouldn't say that they're better than a 427 or anything.... =x The Rx-7s are all nice cars, but the second it becomes a ricer it becomes worthless IMHO. Same goes for Supras and their V6s, They are nice cars, dont need to be uglified with nasty body kits, ridiculous paint jobs, and false decals.

Supras have an Inline 6. Skylines also have an inline 6. Inline configurations offer more torque than V-configurations with the same cylinder numbers and/or displacement. Personally, give me a well tuned RB26DETT motor over a 351 windsor or an LS1 any day. Don't get me wrong, I like all sorts of cars from classic muscle to modern performance, but I tend to lean towards modern performance over some of the classics. I still want a 69' Camaro SS in my garage though.

Doh, didnt realize they had inlines. My moms car has a flat 6 in it =x Hurray for Boxsters lol. But I think you see what I mean. Performance isn't in looks... The lines of the car should speak for themselves... i LOVE skylines, i HATE to see skylines or any other nice car riced out with a gargantuan un-necessary spoiler, a bazillion decals of "sponsors" in the windows/on the side, and unnaturally bright colors. My official Dream car is an Audi RS6 like the one in the attached picture, but id Rathre have it without the rings... Comes with 460 HP 413 ft/lb torque stock, and aint she a beut? See that tiny little lip on the back? Thats all the spoiler it needs

Well, the reason for the large spoiler is because a Skyline is an AWD car. If you're going to race it on the track, you need a large, aerodynamically sound spoiler, and you need a good front spoiler (or splitter) to help stick the car to the track, especially for high speed turns. The Japanese JGTC series is probably one of the best if not THE best touring car series in the world, and every car there is a testament to race aerodynamics. Older muscle cars didn't necessarily NEED aerodynamics to go fast, they had engines that could provide more push forward than wind resistance could push back. But my friend's 69' Roadrunner also gets 5mpg.
Now, for a street car, you should never need more than a small lip spoiler for the rear, and maybe a bit of splitter action going on on the front. Normally that kind of stuff is seen only on German cars, since they were designed for the autobahn where you have long stretches where you're expected to drive fast. I'm sure if the Autobahn was majorly twisty, they'd put bigger spoilers on the cars.
As far as sponsor decals.. well.. if you don't have the money for something you want, and a company will give it to you in exchange for some advertising space on your car for X number of months/car shows, why not? I would do it in a heartbeat. The real ricers put mfgr. decals on their cars when they are not sponsored.
When I finish my Bit Char-G Skyline GT-R, it will have decals on it, a large rear spoiler and a front splitter. Why? Because I'm replicating a race car and I want it to look like a race car straight out of JGTC or some other racing series.

*cough* All the audis are 4wd too... Including this S4. This is a race in the GT-S series... Road Atlanta in case you were wondering
That spoiler is hardly 6 inches off the back of the car... yet I consistantly see ones that are nearly 2 1/2 feet on Skylines...

The spoiler is lower because of regulations. Racing regs for most classes of touring car and/or road racing won't let you put a spoiler on the car that's any taller than 4" shorter than the tallest point of the roof of the car, paralell to the ground. So that spoiler is low, compared to say a road-racing Skyline, but it is as high as it can go. If they could make it higher they would!
Below is Calsonic's Skyline GT-R in the Japanese Grand Touring Championship.
This is not a 'ricey' wing, this is a car with a race-aerodynamic wing. A good majority of the wing designs used were wind-tunnel tested; more than I can say for the majority of parts you see on cars in the US.
I can't read Japanese to understand the rules fully, but I believe that they are incredibly lenient on aerodynamics, so long as the original overall character of the car is maintained. Also, for wings, they must fit within a specific cross-section. I believe the top of the wing can be no higher than the top of the roof of the car.
Also, if you are 'consistently' seeing wings 2 1/2 feet off the back of a Skyline, you either live in Japan, Europe or Australia, because they don't sell these cars here (With the exception of through MotoRex, at around 60k-100k for a GT-R).
I'm sure if the rules for JGTC said you can't have the spoiler any taller than 4" shorter than the roof of the car (Like, for example, SCCA Pro Touring Car) then they would be as short as the GT-S runner at Road Atlanta that you showed me.
