Dang Az, I think you must've been the only one to get a good Austin Marten! I've got the stutter problems. a coworker who also bought one has stutter problems and now bnwhtlw is saying he's got stutter problems.
So much for the latest generation having all the issues fixed.

My DB5 doesnt have the issue it flitters just a TINY bit when the body is off. But when its on, it works just fine.
Should I return it and see if I get lucky? (although I already returned the db5, they may not like that too much)
And I trimmed those STUPID missles.

So upon much investigating now. My db5 does in fact chatter, however it is much more subdued than the Vanq. My db5 gets really good 5/6 which to me is just fine.
The Vanq is more like 4/7 or something. Both turn to the right far better than the left. The Vanq. will do a 180 if I max the wheel. Like literally turns on a dime (at 1/64th scale of course )
I think I may take the Vanq back and take my chances, before I try any of the mods on here. All that stuff scares me. Besides Id like to disarm the front grill a little more cleanly.
Ill keep you guys posted. Also..FYI...I figured out how to beat the prices of the NX kits on ebay. Bought a truck motor kit and Ill sell that on the evilbay for more money that I should get for it, then turn that money around and by the nx kit.
clever aint I?

Should I take it back and exchange it?

Yes. You've got one of the bad ones there. If it stutters when you hit the trigger as welll as on centering, that's as bad as they get. Next up the functioning scale are the ones that chatter just a bit on centering only. Then, there's the gems that have no stutter at all. Unfortuantely, it's a crap shoot on what you get.
Once there was a mod to cut a connection on the steering servo pot, but the newer chassis don't have this bridge across two of the servo pot connections.

I have noticed many of the ones I went in and got during the clearance toward the end had stuttering issues. I think I canabalized 4 of them for parts. I did come out with 4 all total (I think) that have no stutter at all and one with slight center stutter that I can live with.
I must say though, the first batch of DB5s and Austins I bought where pretty descent. I got 2 offline and two at the LRS. And I think three of those where perfect. Later, I got two more DB5s. One was crap, the other had the slight center stutter. Then, one more buying spree when they started giving them away and I got 2 more perfect cars out of 5.
So, I actually bought alot of cars (11) to get 5 perfect and one slightly flawed one. I did this when they went on clearance before as well and replaced all my 2nd gen chassis. Although I returned alot as well. This combined with the steering pot mod on three 1st gen chassis has given me 12 solid SEs and a buttload of spare parts. The only parts I don't save from canabalizing is the PCB as I figure thats where the fault lies in the steering stutter. So, with those odds, I wouldn't say the SEs are fixed, and I'm sorry if I gave that impression. It could be that I was swayed by the initial buy of good cars I got. Perhaps by luck.
Oh, and I bought 3 MTs. ONe of each frequency that work perfect and one that would not turn left while going forward. That one is my guiniea pig.

If one of you guys are a mod and wanna change the Thread Subject to "General Noob Conversation" Im cool with that.
Yeah Im gonna take it back today and swap it out. I may just go buy another one and have a parts car. The Vanq is probably the best looking body they have made.
Think I should try out one of the GTs or mustangs? Any better mileage with those models?
btw...I LOVE the monster trucks. I have two so far. I cant decide if I like setting it up for speed or for pull. So I sent up one of each.
Anyway, thanx for all the help guys. Sincerely.

Glad you hit the Zip lottery! What are the odds do you think? 1 in 3 of getting a good SE?

Im 50/50 right now...but mileage may very. The good thing is I get to re-disarm the V12 and spend the time to make it right. My NX motor will be here this week! Stoked. Anyone wanna buy some ugly toyota bodies?

I'm 5 good out of 6 SE's. One bad DB5 out of 3.
The DB5 died completely after working perfectly for about 30 seconds. At least I didn't spend a lot of time modifing it for nothing.

If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em! Good for you!
Since the stupid things are selling for killer money, I was thinking of making the trek to my LRS m'self to grab some more of the Initial D tuner kits...But the 93degree heatwave outside today helped me decide against it.

damnit...so the V12 rules are far as no jitter and the pretty much equal steps in either directions...all is well except...the adjustment screw on the bottom really sucks.
Now I see why these things are on clearance.
