Re: whatever

Wow, it has been a while since i ordered from toy east but i don't recall the shipping prices being so outrageous. Last thing i ordered was a few of those bit char g clones, beleive the shipping was ~$10.

edit:
Just checked my order history on toyeast: 4 lxx clones @ $11 a pop, total shipping was $15 (this was well over a year ago though, guess they upped the price since?)

to be fair

I made a mistake with the mini tank. the TOTAL cost was $50, so the shipping was $35, that INSANE for something the same size and weight as a zipzap. The TB-02 is quite large though. It's probably over 5lbs or more and the box is about 2.5ft long by 1.5 ft wide by 8in tall. Plus, the stuff is coming from Hong Kong. I think Tower's shipping on it was like $25, so I just bought it from the LHS for the same price as tower and payed the tax instead of the shipping and it worked out a bit cheaper.

I purchased a few Iwavers in a group by from TE and the shipping for 7 cars and bodies was about $8 car. Buy more spend less on shipping.

As far as the Xmod being a better car than the Iwaver, well i was dissapointed at the cheap style of remote and the slow speed of the xmod, and after a few hop ups it was just as fast as my stock Iwaver. Plus it ended up costing more.

Drac,

I know this forum and the MZR forum are in conjuction, but with this comment

"I just hope its not some child labor camp that produces them... or terrorist groups that benifit from it... (this is the case with more products than you would think)."

I think it's time you got alittle help dude. Thats a horrible way to promote your ideaologly on a toy car coming from overseas. Thats a sic way to promote any opinions, it totally sounds like your exploiting the emotions of people all over the forums.

Ahem the Xmod is also made in an overseas factory. Perhaps it also should be included in your statement.

I can't believe that went uneditted. It's sic.

Why? Because it makes you think...

Maybe thats why I try to deal with companies where I know I have a better idea where the product/factory is coming from.

However, before we go one way or another.. Is there any type of contact/website information on the box for those that got it. If not, I would be very skeptical of its legitamacy.

*I tried to google a website for iwaver, closest I could find was Taiwan site that I dont think is related.

Ok, well there is http://www.iwaver.com/

But that is in reality Steve from Toyeast! So that leads nowhere.

I found this review:
http://www1.bbiq.jp/ikinari/mini-z/iwaver.html

I should point out this portion

Quote:
Digital proportional system: 12 steps for steering on each side (less than xmods), 12 steps for throttle. It has reverse, but no brake.

A low graded clone with digital propo. would be better than a real propo.

This was just a silly comment, but since you insist on searching the entire internet for things I have said about the I waver... I dont think I realy paid attention to the fact this thread was about the I waver though... at the time I posted that.. but whatever....

What is wrong with me HOPEING that its NOT a child or slave labor camp? I do hope that its not.. dont realy expect that it is, but there are a lot of these places still in existance in some countries... and they are known for making everything from real-name brand T-shirts to cheap knock off toys... remember a few popular stars being arrested cuz their clothing was made in sweat shops etc?

My point is dont just go buying the stuff you see cuz its cheap, do a little research... A certian popular terrorist group makes money off of thousands of products legaly sold in the US.. they make even more off of non legal products... Gem sales, like Tansanite or whatever it is, often wind up in their pockets...

The Whole World is sick, not just me...

Back to the Iwaver

Yes i've read that review as well, and as far as i can tell it's the only bad review on the iwaver. Statistically speaking there are probably moreof them out there along with good reviews as well

see the micro rc center.com (remove the spaces) for the iwaver review, well written and no need to translate. yippee. It's actually in the Kyosho Miniz section, and stickied as well.

It inceases the amount of real information about the Iwavers so it's all good right?

My MR01 has the same gear ratio as my Iwaver, i can esentially replace the MR01 steering gears with Iwaver gears. I'm not sure what he was talking about when i read that review. My Xmod had nowhere near the turning radius of my Iwaver.

Anyways it's all choice and $$ right? I have a MR01, an OL and a MR02. But i still drive my Iwaver more and can watch my friends smack into walls and not be scared of them breaking parts or mirrors off. I've raced my Iwaver against MR01's and have placed well in the standings (local club racing).

Drac,

I commmented on the fact that you brought a whole new ball of wax into a disscussion. Something political that should be on a political forum somewere, not a forum on toy cars. Gotta keep the disscusion on topic right?

If you'd have said that "I will not buy an Iwaver because i don't like to support copy cat products" I wouldn't have even batted an eye.

Without bringing up boring old topics, can we agree to disagree? people like them and some people don't, for whatever reasons everyones correct both correct.

It's what i like to call "freedom of speech", Canadians have a similiar thing, we say "what happens on the ice stays on the ice"

Sent Steve a email, response:

"Hi,

We are the Iwaver manufacturer, you can see the www.iwaver.com and the
attached pic is the new bodies of GT40 concept and Porsche Carrera GT
Concept coming, we do the tooling now.

Regards
Steve
"

So if this holds true, then most likely these are made in Hong Kong, not mainland China.

At least now you all have a better idea to form you decision. Though I think we can drop the priority of it being a terrorist or child labor setup. Though as dar as being made under a authoritarian government with lax labor and enviromental laws.... (See? Still is never a simple black and white issue).

You don't understand the comment then. The servo gears aren't what effects the proportional. Its the electronics. Hes simply telling you in that review that how many "steps" per side for steering is rather low then I would assume a traditional miniz. Basically, how smooth a steering range it will have (which it seems it won't).

I see, but i can still turn jsut as well and on the same radius as my MR01. Which is good.

I saw the new bodies, looking good. I've found a few cars on e-bay but no local stores yet, but it's only a matter of time.

I thought I explained the difference in the steering a few posts ago? in this thread or another on this forum?

it has nothign to do with the min or max radius, that is more of the mechanizm tie rods etc, the difference with the iwaver and mr01 is the electronics tell the car it has 12 different places the front tires can stay at... when the mini-Z can stop any were at those 12 and any were in between cuz it is fully proportional, when toyeast says their car is FULLY PROPORTIONAL it is an error... its only partialy-proportional...

12 steps or 15 steps on the Xmod, is enough for dinking around the house, but when u get into good clean off the wall on every lap racing it wont cut it...

The reason the heipoa is junk is cuz it dont even have a servo, its just all the way left or all the way right, try riding a bike by jerking the wheel 45 degrees left and right to steer, with out easing it to one side or the other, and with out stopping half way... its not so easy...

Yes i agreee Hei POO is garbage, it's an oversized bit with magnet steering. Just like the palm runner and all push button cars.

Having raced the Iwaver, i can say that it can stay off the walls on a tight track and handles pretty well stock.

As with my Mr01 I had to do the paper mod as the centering sensor (i think im right) gets joggled around. Alittle shim behind it a presto straight as an arrow.

Stay away from the Hei Poo. But if you set on that style of racing, than get a plam runner at lest the body looks good.

Pics of new Iwaver bodies

Hey, potentiality...can you either post or email me the pictures of the new Iwaver bodies? I just purchased 4 IWaver bodies from Steve at ToyEast and was quite impressed with the quality, considering the price. The four bodies, including shipping, was less than $34, which equates to about $8.50 each. Good luck finding a Mini Z body for that price shipped.

Sure there are some minor problems with the decals on my Subaru Imprezza WRX, but it still looks good driving around. I personally will continue to purchase Iwaver bodies as new ones become available. I feel better about putting an $8.50 body on my Xmod and racing it around than I would putting a $30 AutoScale body on.

I think that I got the same pictures. I sent Steve an email last night asking him another question and happened to mention reading about his prototype bodies. These are definitely going to be nice once they come out. He also mentioned that they are working on a McLaren GTR also.
