Hmm. That was interesting.
I might be able to get the basic TranX protocol for you. I wrote a decoder for it once, its pretty simple. You send two basic packets, one is crossing data, the other is an indicator of how much ambiant noise the system is picking up, its transmitted every 5 seconds.
The crossing format contains the transponder number, the number of ticks since the race start, and some flags indicating battery low and a couple other things that I don't recall.
The TranX2 accepts a number of commands and can store crossings for the race on the decoder itself. Its predecessor only took a couple commands, the only one I recall is the reset commad that resets the race clock to zero.
