This seems to be a pretty good discovery. I just removed that capictor from my SE. Actually, the negative side was not even soldered it was just pressed up against the contact. I have not completed the fet mod yet. I am running the NX motor with green gears, and after removing the cap it almost accelerates like the blue gears. Also, transitioning from forward to reverse seems to be less slugish.

Yeah so far so good with this mod. Its not a drastic jaw droping increase in performance, but it seemed to help a little. If you remove your battery you will see a little pocket in the right side of the chassis next to the motor and right behind the battery slot. The capacitor is tucked into it, it is hooked parallel with positive and negative motor leads. Did not seem to affect my transmitter range. I also just completed cyborgzero's steering mods. I did 7/7 steering, 2.2 steering motor, and trimmed the steering rack. Amazed at what a differance the new motor made.

Are you positive you cut out the componant that was referenced in this thread? Be sure to verify that your powwer wires to the motor were not also cut or broken, because that is where the capicitor is soldered to. It has to be something simple that you could probably repair.

If your looking for performance then I suggest you thoroughly read Cyborgzero's 7/7 steering thread. It will teach you how to complete the best steering mods, and a full mosfet mod.

Check the gray and orange wires/// Make sure they have ggod connect at the PCB and follow it all the way to the motor. They should get to the motor mount where the capacitor you cut out was. But make sure there is no break in the connections to the motor. The orange light means it can't find the battery.

i dont know why it didnt work for you. i just got a perfection 4.2, FET mod, and drilled holes in my car to make it lighter. i raced someone that has the exact same car and set up as i said, except he didnt remove the capacitator, and i can beat him by not a lot, but enough to win. when you have the best for a car, everything counts. i had my first real race with about 40 other guys for around here and we raced on a indoor soccer field, which is the same carpet as for the 1/10 and 1/8 scale.i came in fourth, which i think is good for a first race.the guys who beat me had lithuim-ion batteries, which is good stuff. i dont really want to buy another charger though for those cells. later
