This shows the assembly from the bottom. The servo clears perfectly:

This one shows a lot. Notice the two 1.5mm holes in the front end of the frame (top of picture) for mounting the drivers cab later. Also notice how the frame fits nice and flat on the bottom of the cargo bed. As I said before, this is my second truck and I want to use little or no glue. Everything will be fastened with screws.

This one shows the simple steering linkage. Also notice the springs on either side of the gearbox. These allow the gearbox to tilt from side to side.

Now that I have the gearbox placement, the body height, and the steering placement and linkage worked out and assembled, I can start laying out and designing the electronics and lights.

as i mentioned earlier, i painted my 5t man white. i think it turned out well. since the paint can't get into the tiny outlines perfectly, it gives shadow lines, texture and, in places, makes the details easier to see. i reassembled it for the picture. sorry it's soo big. as soon as mini z/tiny can get my album on mzr fixed, i'll be posting all my tttt pictures to a tttt album in my album. i'll come back ad edit this then.

Hey! That white paint looks great!
I cant paint to save my life! Did you use an air brush? When I try to spray paint from a can, I always seem to get it on too thick. That job you did puts my painting skills to shame

thanks for the comliments, it's nice when they come from such talented persons as yourselves when i see your work (killer, overlander and all the germans) i feel like i'm out of my league .
since i'm at work, i have to be brief. i do get to check in though ! (the life of an architect is busy and unglamourous) i got my tttt album in my mzr album! i'll begin to post pictures tonight, begining with my paint job. i'm actually thinking about a pale porche yellow or red for my other 5t man. i really like the red one in the pictures thorsten posted. when i'm finished building the thing, i'll go back and try to add that level of detail to the painting.
overlander- where do you find your solid brass stock? i've only seen the k&s stuff which is mostly hollow shapes. i plan on leaning how to use my new dremel as soon as i get a hobby vise. i don't want to loose any fingers.
one more, is there a glue that i can use to glue some of the plastic detail peices to the brass frame work?

The brass bar I used for my chassis is from a 1/8" plate I had lying around. You can buy plate and bar stock from a metals store. Look up metals in your local telephone book. Most places have bins of scrap and misc. chunks of brass and aluminum. Just call and ask.
How did you paint that little bugger?

Arch,
Here is an excellent link for small quantities of metal:
http://www.onlinemetals.com/
It may be simpler to go to a local scrap metal place though. Check them both out. Remember, you dont need to use big plates for a brass frame. Square rails are fine. The only reason I used a big ass plate was to experiment. I also think it will help keep the center of gravity lower. My UNIMOG flips over pretty easily because the batteries are up high.
As far as glue, use thick CA glue. Make sure you clean the brass with acetone first. It also helps to abrade (roughen) the surface of the plastic and brass slightly. Use an emery board for fingernails for this.

overlander- thanks for the info. i'll try hitting up the local metal shops for scrap brass this weekend.
incredible tool collection by the way. i have to work on a folding card table and everything has to fit into a box when i'm done.
i posted some pictures in my album (ttt section). explained how i painted the 5t man.
as stated before, i found a guy that sold me the following for $123.00. he has stuff on ebay reglularly. you can email him for a custom package and his prices are good. what i got was atleast $20 cheaper than the next quote from an online store. he is generally good about replying to emails; Tlrascal@aol.com . this is probably your best source until TINYRC starts stocking GWS parts .
2 - BP101 Plain Bearing - JR/Hitec (PICO STD)
1 - GWS R4P Receiver With XTAL
1 - GWT-4A Transmitter (F-Negative Shift) with XTAL
1 - GWS MC-2002 Peak Detect field charger

Hey Arch,
I checked out your album. It looks like your well on your way. Dont you hate tearing up a perfectly good Faller bus?
That pico servo, are you going to make the ESC from that?
Also, I was going to suggest using a diferent switch. That faller one is huge!
