What's radioshack doing?

What is Radioshack doing? I've got a strange feeling they are upgrading the quality, I mean, how could a backorder be 4 months away within christmas week...what are your opinions?

I doubt the plant burnt down, all there factories are in Texas (unless the ATF has visited it). I heard something along the lines of updateding the Xmod but only a rumor at this point from what I hear from regional managers.

Gentlemen... I hate to inform you of this... but radioshack's "Back orders" are nothing more than a strategic plan on making money. Ok... look at it like this... say... you make a product, It first comes out... few kids check it out... tend to like it... start posting it on the net... it starts to get advertised more , ie: magazines and such *cough*superstreet magazine*cough*... ahhehmm... *cough*needforspeed underground*cough*... whew... excuse me.... anyways.... your product HITS IT BIG come christmas time... sure yer a lil overwhelmed... but then a HUGE light pops up in your head... ok... lets make new "mods" and "upgrades" for our product.... minimize the current sales of the present upgrades.... and come christmas time.... over stock RS and make some MOOLAH ON OVER PRICED MODS THAT WILL BREAK IN 2 WEEKS TOPS!!! PURE GENIUS!!!!! anyways... thats just the way i see it. if you read some of the other posts on how in dire need kids are wanting... the AWD and light kit.... im tellin yah.... they probably already came up with an "XMOD" light kit w/ neons and such and "color matching" AWD and other internal gear parts.... just you see.... come christmas time... there will be an abundance of crazy upgrades and such... till then gents...

That makes no sense, Radio Shacks aren't going to raise the price on something because it's low in supply. Also, all thats going to happen is they'll loose money on things that break because they have an obligation to replace parts within the warranty period. The only way that Radio Shack can maximize their revenue is to produce as much as they can, and I'm sure they're doing that.

i never said they were going to raise the price of products that are already out... what was meant by my above statement was: rs products are over priced... we pay too much for something that breaks easily...
but anyways... like i was saying before... come christmas time... there will be newer upgrades... and in my opinion... they will most likely be over priced too.

Personally, I don't think the upgrades are overpriced at all. Four motors for $17. Four sets of tires with three sets of wheels for $13. (excuse me if I'm wrong, I'm just being too lazy to look up the exact prices.)

For the Mini-Z, I get two tires for my $4, and that is without wheels. One motor is $15. Wheels are $at least $10 for a single set. Bodies are $30, unless they are a very unpopular one, like the Audi TT or BMW Z8.

I've got over $150 in mods on my Mini-Z already, and there is still alot I could do. For that much, I can get a fully modded-out Xmod, including the car itself.

Alot of people forget or don't know the maufacturing process. It does take time to produce a part and also takes money. Overall the prices we pay for the XMods is pretty cheap. If you add all of the parts on their replacements the total cost plus the shipment cost is more then the XMod. But then again cars are built the same way. Almost all cars have a 13 - 20 percent defect in them. You in turn go buy the part and pay for the labor to install it. Pretty much the same thing but more and more people fix their own cars. Isn't this what we do with the XMods?
