42k motor.... Any good thoughts on it?

I see a couple places selling this engine, anyone have any expereince with it. They also are selling the 38k motor which has more torque then all the other motors out there.

There is a 45k motor but the lag is too much between foward and backwards, but has an insane topend.

But right now i'm looking at the 42k engine for drag racing. Thoughts?

4.2s are junk if you want topend. You'll need to buy the 3.8 motor in the parts shop here at TRC.

Perfection speak a bunch of crap.. Their motors have torque, but the 4.2 is BS

You want a 3.8

damn I just bought 2 of them for me and a buddy. Ahh well they were only $3.95 each there. I'll have to check out the 3.8 motor here. Thanks for the info.

Edit: wow they are $9.99 for a 38k motor. Hmmmm... I might have to buy that to compare it to the 42k. Is this 4.2 going to work in my camaro ZZ, I read that there is some trouble with the first gen PCB.

The Camaro is a 2nd gen chassis, so your 4.2s should work ok.. The 4.2s are ok, but have no topend speed.. That's why they are so cheap.

When you get the 3.8, you'll see why it's double the price.. You get double the speed.

interesting, speed isn't a concern for me, cause with the red gear the damn thing is almost undrivable. I'm looking for torque for low end. And I red that the perfection motor is good at that.

Thoughts? I'm picking up a 3.8 from here too.

Well if you want torque, then the 4.2 pros are great. They have a ton of it to dish out. I just hate the way they make people think it's faster than it really is.

ive got 4.2s and they are much better than my 3.8! on a booster car they are great, they are about a 2.6 without boost so its good for all around driving and with the boost i flip and roll 2 or 3 times when turning after going strait with boost at max speed.............................i also have a 120mAh bat in it though........and the fastest gear set (8.25:1 or somthing like that)......

i am very happy with my 4.2s......
