CF Chassis for X-mod, Interested??

We are currently in development on a CARBON FIBER (CF) flat pan chassis for the X-mod Suspension Components.

The chassis will use the front bolt on parts and the rear stock motor pod. You will be able to use the stock electrical components but it is really designed for aftermarket servos-receivers-esc's. Treat this as a teaser/feedback thread, but if the interest is high enough, we will work closely with the shop to distribute them.

Protos and pics should be posted before Christmas.

The main components of the Protos are being priced now. Hardware will be costed shortly.............But it all depends on how many are made..........sorry about being so elusive, but at this point I am at the mercy of the CnC shop and other suppliers.

I will also entertain any constructive needs-desires-wishes for the chassis. At this point in time they could be incorporated. As it stands right now with the use of the rear motor pod, the stock bodies would fit, but it would be way cool if MINI-Z Autoscale bodies could be used for a much wider body choice. Just one of those wishes.........

I'd like to see the batteries laid down flat across the chassis like the MR02 does it, for a lower CG. I think with that change, this thing has the potential to be a serious racer.

How about a rolling chassis kit , with susp/ drivetrain parts, but no motor/servo/Rx/esc? That is something I would be interested in!!

I would also like to see a top plate and perhaps stretch chassis options.

The top plate would allow for more mounting surface althoug it may not under hte stock car body.

I would be interrested for sure.

you could probably mount the servo more securely as well with two decks, liek the micro RS4 chassis

Keep the ideas coming!!!

Yeah a top plate would be way cool...

To lay the batts flat they would probably have to be locked in place by a top plate and that could make changing them harder.....If the chassis is designed to use the Mini-Z bodies only, then the width becomes wider and the batts could possibly be laid flat in holders. But then you need wider offset wheels.......might be able to hook up with Mini-Z to make the rims.............................................. ....

Rolling chassis, could be possible........

Well, after being into 1/10th scale onroad cars for quite some time, making a carbon fiber upper plate or whole chassis may not be the best thing to do. It may look cool and everything but it can also interfere with the radio signals. When you make the chassis, you should make sure that no peice of carbon fiber touches the antenna or other things like that. It could bring your range that was like 200-300 feet to just about 5 or so. Its not a big deal or anything and I'm not trying to make people not buy your products, but I'm just saying that it could be a problem with the chassis and so on. I'm also thinking about building my own custom chassis to hold a Novak micro esc and so on, but I'm just in need of materials.

It's already been done and it is being used successfully with the Pro-Z CF chassis for Mini-Z's; it is a minor but worry-some problem that all CF chassis deal with. Simple isolation of the the antenna mount is usually cure enough in the 1/18 and smaller chassis.

But hey, your point is well taken and is a design consideration. Thanks.

To update, technical issues with the cad file transfer over the intrenet have got the project stalled until I can resolve the problem with a zipped dxf file..................
