Hello, this is my first generation

Hi, this is my first post here! My zip zap is unfortunetly only a first generation initial d, which just plain sucks. It really is bad in all aspects so I decided to do some mods to primarly improve handling. Here's what I did:

- created new tabs on body to lower it (lower CG)

- pulled out lights from body

- shaved off all unecessary plastic to save weight (hatch and windshield as well as light mounting pieces inside of the body)

- put in stiffer springs

- removed hubcaps to save weight (plus it looks cooler imo)

Well, thats all I have modded now. I currently run the purple motor with blue gears. Whenever my car DOES run, it only goes for about 40 seconds. Think it's time for new batteries??? Or is the first generation just a piece of crap??
