newb wanting to get into mini-Z's....

Basically i just bought an Xmod a few days ago, it works fine for me but everyone says the mini-Z is so much better (thanks to propo steering) so i'd like to go ahead and get one. Any recomendations on where to buy from? i really don't want a clone, i'd rather buy the real deal and be done with it instead of buying something cheap and end up getting a mini-z later.

any help is appreciated....

thanks,
duey

I faced the same problems when I wanted to get into RC also. I wanted to get either a Mini-Z or a Micro RS4, but I didn't want to pay the expensive local prices. Later, I decided to start locally to build relationships with experienced racers. It worked well. You should start locally to get familiar with other racers.

They are worth every penny. I got into Z's about 2 yrs a go , and I'm still mad about them. They are the creme de la creme of 1/28 scale racing. Go for it, here is a list of readysets available at mini-zracer.com

http://www.minizracer.com/shop/products.php?pid=8

Alternatively , Draconious sells readysets:

http://www.draconious.com/Mini-Z/P_ProductList.html

Trust me, you won't be disappointed! You might be addicted, but you won't be disappointed!

Mini-z's will blow the xmods away. Just stay away from E B A Y. unless you state Kyosho. Remember, Kyosho or no go.

Man get an MR02 from www.rcmart.com, and make sure you get ball bearings at the same time as you buy the car. A ball diff is also a good investment.

They're right. I got my Z last summer and I spend almost every day playing with it. They're great!

Why? better than a motor or bearings?

Most Mini-Zers like to work on the handling first and make it fast second. You may go with a faster motor but these things are known to be fast out of the box already. A number of Zers like to try softer tires first to get it to hook up.

The ball diff is a big improvement over the stock plastic gear diff. I have been known in the past to put a hot motor on a stock Z and it can handle it. it is very hard to control. The stock diff is known for wheel hop. The ball diff can make it more controlable with a faster motor.

Bearings, the MZR shop sells some nice bearings. In fact they stock two types, Dry and Enduro. The Enduro is cheaper but need to be oiled, but the dry is worth the extra cost and if you buy your readyset from the shop some come with the dry bearings for free. I have seen worst bearings on the market for Mini-Z's than these.

I don't know because I don't have anything to measure speed with. All I can say is the avarage speed out of the box is around 12 to 15 MPH, Someone said they recorded 18 MPH. Most of this was posted over on MZR.
