Ball Bearing Diff??

Hey I was looking at the BB diff today, reading the manual and saw that its adjustable. Looks like 3 different stages it can be ran at which is

SOFT, MED, HARd.... and can be set by placing spacers on the spring. But when I look at the diff out of the box it looks like its set for the MED setup already. Right? Which seems to me by reading is going to be the best setup to run on the track... Am I looking at this correctly, are there 2 spacers on there already.

If not what seems to be the best setup to run on the HT tracks..

Yes that is correct, all of the ball diffs here came with two shims also, the setup will really depend on driving style and which car. On the HT carpet here I have tried it with two and also with one shim. I like the feel with one shim but you loose some forward bite so I've stayed with two on both of my cars. I have'nt tried it with the three shims so I cannot comment on that.

While we're on the subject has anyone tried the atomic ball diff? I bought one to try and cannot seem to get it to work well at all, and the gear doesent fit well either. I was thinking of replacing the gear with a standard Kyosho one but the balls are a different size

. Any tricks or tips on a good way to rebuild this for a better feel/fit?

don't waste your time with the atomic ball diff until they fix its flaws... 'nuff said.

Yeh I saw that Atomic BB Diff, but didnt liked the way it looked... I think im going to just go with the Kyosho Diff.

Hey,
with PN Racing Mini-Z Stainless Shims Set [Parts # 700401] you can remove
one of the kyosho shims and use the M2 x 4.2mm x 0.2mm SS shims to tune
your Diff. in 0.2mm steps. about $4 a pack.

and the fit is Great.
the kyosho shims are 1mm ea. thats a lot of Tuning.

I just filed one of the discs to about half its width.
