Weathering?

what tecniques do you use to weather your tanks? like, what paints, how do you personaly aply the paint, extent of weathering, etc.....i want my T-34 to end up looking similer to this: http://www.konami.co.jp/th/micro_ir/...ro/004/01.html

but first off, what do you use to give it the dirty soot/ smoke covered look? i know how to do the scratched to the metal thing (i do that on my WWII planes).......
