Xmod Corvette Project

I just remembered that when I was little I bought a Corvette model kit from an arts&crafts store. And I went looking for it in the attic (hoping it was still in good condition). I found it after only about 5mins of searching (boy am I lucky ) and it was as I remember still in great condition nothing missing. So I brought it down and put it next to my xmod to see if it was the same... and it is! I was so excitied because I thought I was too slim to go on the chassis. I then unsrewed the bottom of the corvette, took out the seats and stuff and placed it on the xmod chassis... problem time First prob I noticed was that the side was a little long so I measured it 3". I then measured the supra body... I will have too cut off 3/8ths of an inch in the center on the corvette in order for it to fit. Next prob was there is this little tab right in between where the passenger and drivers seat were. If I cut it then the chassis would fit in correctly with only the motor plug sticking out. Other than that width is fine, even the corvette tires fit on the xmod wheels. I was thinking of using velcro(sp?) for mounting on the body. I may be able to mount on lights. The body is lighter than the xmod body and I guess the opening on the top will help let out heat from the motor.

Now for the questions... what do you guys use to cut through the center of the body to shorten it? And what do you use to put it back together, krazyglue? What should I do about the tab once I cut it, sand it to make it smooth, apply something to it? Answers and suggestions appreciated. If this works out this will be the first thing I could really count modding I suppose.

Sorry for the bad pics... My family's digital camera is with my dad in the Phillipines (visiting his relatives) right now so I'm using my sister's webcam.

It will mount fine on the chassis once I cut through the center of it and remove the tab.

Width is perfect in my opinion.

Rear is just high cause of the tab... I'll show it in the next pic.

And last one, the tab (It's right on the motor)

Ah and if able could you tell me what year this corvette is? I'm not that all into cars so I don't know. If this post seems so sped up because of my words, it's because we're trying to get our christmas decorations up and thanksgiving meals done
