a question about motors & microsizers first impressions

After getting the itch to buy an r/c car, (i am saving to buy a 1/10 or 1/8 scale buggy) i've spent many nights researching the internet. One night, when i couldn't sleep, and had r/c cars on my mind, i came across some mini r/c discussions. i thought how coool it would be to have a tiny r/c car running around here, and decided to go to the local 24 "superstore" to see what they had in their toy dept.

My first 2 cars were, a nikko jeep wrangler, and a hot wheels mini r/c, (i forget the exact product name, but who cares, it was total crap). without going into too much detail, i will say, i wasn't impressed with either one. the nikko had the worst controller ever (just a joystick), and it was tough getting the car going anywhere, especially if it involved turning. too bad too because the model looked good, and had some decent sized tires; big enough to roll over the carpet in my apt. the hot wheels car had a nice controller with a bubble to hold the car (in this case an SUV), however, after a few seconds of playing with it, all that could come to mind was, 'fast, cheap, and out of control'. yes, this car was fast, especially compared to a bit, but the control was awful, just no fun to play with.

the following day, i located a store selling microsizers, and bought 2. i almost missed them and almost bought some infrared controlled, rear wheel steering thing that ran like sh!t in the store (digi-Q?).

these cars looked so cool. i got a toyota Bb body and a skyline gt-r, both black. and all the little accessories that you have to put together yourself! i was so anxious to play. when everything was together i was shocked and disappointed by a few things. first, i couldn't believe how damn slow these things were, and the reception was also just pathetic, i mean, give me at least 15 ft. i see now that you pretty much HAVE to upgrade these things to enjoy them at all, well, that's being a bit tough on them, they are fun, but you all know what i mean.

despite the bad reception and the ultra slow speed, i was impressed at how wonderful the control was (turning and such), but i needed more. i began reading all about micro r/c ing and bit char-G mods on as many websites as i could find.

i'm on a mission to get a decent motor for my cars ( a nimh batt would be great too), but something i've read a few times confuses me. i'm pretty sure the higher the motor #, the more power/speed it produces, yet the 2.2 that comes with my microsizer pro's, (which i thought would be a pretty decent motor since i know the earlier bits used 1.0 motors), is so slow that i can't imagine anything less even moving the cars. then, i read on various websites, the following,

ok, 2.2, bigger? faster? i would think, but again, a modest description. standard equipment, all around, etc. next...

and finally, more dynamite. this seems consistent with higher # = faster etc.

then, i read this about the newest bit char-g models, the power claws or whatever they're called.

huh? how does the NEW bit char-g cars only have a 1.o motor, and for a big burly truck they advertize as driving up 15º inclines?

so what's the deal with the motors? do the lower #'s have more torque/less speed? i mean my 2.2 is pretty weak and pathetic, i can't imagine seeing anything less in any car. and why does microsizers site only refer to the 2.2 as standard and all around and the 1.6 as dynamite? can someone please clear this up for me? i'm anxious to get a new motor and battery; by the way, where's the best place to pick this stuff up (best = lowest priced).
