USPS Aaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!
Just got the package in the mail for the Epoch Spec-2 that I bought used and boy did the USPS do a number on it. The package looks like Godzilla stepped on it and the car was smushed. Smushed, not smashed.
Seriously though, it looks almost like some 300lb lard butt stepped on the box. The car's antenna has been turned into abstract art, and the car itself was squashed so the chassis was squeezed up into the bodyshell with no clearance at all for the wheels on one side. One of the wires that runs to the motor also popped off and would need to be resoldered. The carrier didn't even stick around to hand me the package. They basically knocked on the front door and scooted. Immediately after opening the squashed box and noting the damage to the contents, I headed over to the local PO to file a complaint/claim, but the claims clerk wasn't there so now I have to wait till Monday and since the package wasn't insured, I basically have to rely on their goodwill to have anything done about it. They could always just tell me, "Well, tough luck buddy"
Have had lots of packages delivered to me and this is the first time I've had a parcel arrive in such bad shape. Sure hope I can get some kind of reparation from the Post Office.
Anyone else had this kinda stuff happen?

ouch...sorry to hear about that, dude. Man, that sux! As for me, I've been one of the lucky few to never have experienced this with any carrier (knock on wood). I sure hope you can get it resolved without too much trouble or blood shed. hehe But seriously I hope it turns out good for you!

Well, not that it's much consolation...But at least you got the package.
the last 2 packages I've sent out seem to have gone directly into the Bermuda Triangle. No trace of it anywhere.

I haven't had any problems with USPS. However, I have had problems with UPS (The Brown Truck Dudes). Couple of times they misplaced my order or they smashed it real good. I prefer USPS, they deliver on weekends too. Sorry about your Spec 2 ride though.

I usually don't have problems with the postal place.. I think it might have been the USPS that delivered my package, but I think that's not right, because I live in Canada, and I think it might have been the UPS. Not sure.

So I wonder if it's postal employees who 'go postal' and start by destroying packages before they graduate to bringing in the hand cannon and taking out the post office or whether it's people who receive one too many packages like mine who decide to 'go postal' and take out the post office?
This is the first time I've seen a package this bad. I've occasioanlly had a package with maybe a bit of a dented corner but this. Whatever fell on/stepped on the box was heavy. It basically squashed the box to about 2/3 the size and it even ripped the cardboard putting a gash about 7" long in it.
As for the contents, well, the car won't run at the moment, but it would run if I popped it back out and resoldered the wire to the motor that came off, but to hell with it, I'm just going to go talk to the claims clerk on Monday and see if they'll do something about compensating me for it and until then, I'll leave it in the condition it's in so they can see what was done to the contents of the parcel. I don't believe I should have to fix stuff that comes in the mail just because some idiot was careless.

LOL! Yeah, they occasionally do deliver parcels w/o even knocking on the door. I just got a parcel in the mail a week ago woth more parts for my car. Small box but the contents cost $250. I was wondering when the mailman was going to come and I stepped out the front door and the package was just sitting on my doorstep. And where I live, there are always a lot of kids running around. Fortunately, everyone was well-behaved enough not to go taking other people's mail. I doubt kids are old enough to understand the meaning of Federal offence.
As for this package. The mail carrier was obviously too embarassed to deliver it personally. They knocked on the door and then took off really quickly. When I'm expecting a package, if I hear a knock on the door, I get to the door very quickly because some carriers don't stick around for long. They knock, wait a few seconds, if there's no answer, they're gone. I got to the door within 5 secs and they were already far down the street, and then I looked down and so the shape the parcel was in and just about had a fit. Maybe the postie was afraid I might do what you mentioned and that's why they took off so fast.

Hehe, here's an idea that you should do... Have a camera out by your front door, and when the carrier comes up to the door, and knocks, you push a button, and a cage surrounds him You could use the porch to do this. If you have a porch that is...

Hey, I could always just answer the door with one of my swords in hand.
And yes, it is the little palm-sized car, no it's not my first. Actually have a stock Epoch spec-2 WRC, with a Kyosho Perfex controller. Little thing's a blast. Has decent zip stock, especially since I'm running it on a pretty small track with tight turns. Love the full propo in somethingthis small. Have a mini-x too but the mini-x is a little too big to run on the track in my apartment. The track was initially made for DigiQs and they're even smaller than bits. The mini-x can't make some of the tighter turns, but the Epoch, as I'd hoped for, seems just about the perfect size and compromise for running in my living room. It has great control and it's small enough to run on the track, and it's reasonably fast.
I got the other one, which happens to be a used WRC because it was being sold for a pretty good price and supposedly has a 4-cell mod done to it already. (Haven't opened it up to look since I'm going to leave it all squashed up until the claims clerk sees it when I file the complaint). I was planning on using this one as the test bed since a) it was cheap b) it's not new and c) it already has a 4-cell mod. Was planning on seeing how much faster it was compared to the stock WRC spec-2 and maybe modding it to a 5-cell, looking for the fets to see how easy it would be to stack them, checking the motor to see whether I could rewind it etc.

Well, here's the update on the situation with the 'friendly' local post office. Took the whole parcel in today to have the claims clerk look at it and see if they would at least make some kind of reparation. They did look at it, but only for one important factor. Glanced at the mangled box briefly, and then said, "Looks like the package wasn't insured".
Basically, in perhaps not quite the same words, they told me, "Not insured? Tough s**t buddy"
