LXX Char-G Booster Set Review

Having just sent my bit and all my parts away so my friend can mod it and not wanting to wait 2 days to get it back I bought a LXX Char-G Booster set for 20 CAD. The thing is pretty good in my opinion.

The Good:

- Decent controller...almost identical to bit char-g controllers. It says bit char-g on the controller but you know that's now true when you pull out the antenna. The retractable antenna is different from an authentic bit char-g one. Still good tho

- Long car antenna

- Drives straight (for me anyways)

- Almost completely identical to an actual bit

- Comes with 3.0 motor hehe

- Decent range

The Bad:

- Crap tires

- Crap rear axle (hard to remove or put back in when compared to bits)

- Crap heat sink (the thing is weird and you hafta put it in on a slant for it to work)

- Slow when boost is not on

- Pinion and idler gears dont work well: the idler gear is very loose. when you attach the idler gear to a bit then run the motor without the axle the gear stays on, on lxx char-g's they fly right off. This is the reason why the car goes so slow cuz when you put the axle on when you run it you can see the idler gear bouncing back and forth between the chassis and the rim.

- Loud

When reading this i know it comes off sounding like the car is complete crap. But the problems i listed can be easily fixed. If you remove the idler gear and axle and put in an authentic one it should theoretically work a lot better and faster even without boost while reducing the noise. there's 3 problems gone already. to solve the crappy tire problem just put other tires on. and just put another heat sink on it and that solves all your problems. Since i dont have my parts here i cant test it out, but when i get my parts back on monday i shall try it out and update my results here. but all in all, this car was well worth the 20 canadian i spent on it. one little problem is that one of the tabs on my pcb cover is crooked so only the other tab is holding it down, but that's not a consistent problem; only with my car, which is why i didnt include it under the bad category.

Hey Heat

Heat, as you may have read my post on the Lxxx Booster, I had the exact same issues. Replacing the idler & pinion gear will not solve the problem, I tried that. Tonight I replaced the pinion gear with an MS gear, that solved the gear meshing issue I had, it now runs a lot smoother & quieter but not any faster. With the combinations that I've tried, only replacing the motor with a KIT improved speed, acceleration, noise, & smoothness. Change your pinion and see what you get......

i will. but i think it's because the motor they make isnt an authentic one and isnt 3.0 anyways. cuz the box says it's 3.0 but it also says all of them are 27 mhz when they are not so i cant trust it. plus the stuff on it is written in broken english i cant understand it. anyways when i get my parts back i'll try different combos to get it to work best then i'll post my personal results. wait till monday.
