How many?
Caught the tail end of a MSNBC covering ZZ. Under the banner of "Hot Holliday Toy".
Here are some scarry figures
16 per week per store.
X 7,200 stores.
X 10 weeks its been out
------------
1,080,000 already out!
A spokeperson's for RS stated this is not a seasonal item and will be sold after xmas.
I am wondering if this will kill of the "normal size" RC for next season?

The "normal size" will most likely continue to stay.

Well, all of the local Hobby Shop guys I talk to say micros are just a fad. I don't think so. Especially when you consider all the models out there and the ones still coming. I think they HOPE it's a fad since most of their buisness is 1/10 scale cars that they stock and repair. Many of them even have a guy that just fixes and mods the big cars. I think they're a "bit" nervous.

These things are here to stay. They're only going to get tighter and more advanced. Regular RC's never died out. It's still a growing hobby and mainly cos' the hobby intices you to keep upgrading. I actually hate the idea of playing with my RC10 now. I'd much rather jump these little things off a stack of books and throw some freakish mods in them. I'm having the time of my life. I'm spending more time with these things as a grown man that I did when I first got the first Nintendo as a kid...and guess what? I still play Nintendo too and have every other platform as well. These things are only going to get BIGGER. Think about all the kids that aren't getting one on Christmas. Sales are only going to go higher after the New Year.
Here's a sad but true story. You know those Xmas trees at the malls where the not so well off kids get to tell you what they'd like for Christmas? Well, we have 14 young boys that have down mini Rc's on their list. I took one of them that was five years old, and he's going to be getting a brand new black civic zipzap. Ok, so the truth is my wife pulled the name knowing I have 6 unopened ones. I'm going to BEAT her

Like you I feel its just the beginning. Look at how long Matchbox and Hotwheels have lasted. Always something new with it.

I totally agree. The explosion in Japan and now the entire western world proves the viability of these micros. They definately have staying power. And, the comparison to Hot Wheels is a good one. A lot of the appeal of these micros is the fact that they are micro, just like Hot Wheels. Tickle Me Elmo died off because only kids clammored for it. But, like Hot Wheels, kids and adults are collecting these micros. And, ole spotty one , you have my admiration for your jesture of kindness to the fortunate little guy who's getting that black Honda for Xmas. Good for you!

If Radio Shack decides not to renew the exclusive contract after the New Year, you may see these everywhere and with many more accesories. ZipZaps.com is planning on selling them online if the renewal isn't signed. They might not even offer Radio Shack a renewal. They may have no choice. Many things are still up in the air. IMO, Radio Shack will do whatever it takes to continue selling these exclusively. Time will only tell what additions will be made to these cars. We know there will be new additions. Question is will they be any good?

Very interesting Stridex. I hope your info is correct. I would love to see these things being handled by someone else. Or, multiple someone else's. RS being the only outlet actually hurts the image of a great product in my opinion. And new blood could mean even better releases. At least more timely releases.

I don't understand. Is this going back to the Radio Shack manual and agreement you signed? Or do you know something we don't? They don't know who you are, so speak your mind.
