my new Mini-X

Hey guys, I finally got the new Ferrari body installed. I still have some small details to put on but its almost there. I haven't dyed the chassis yet, that will come a bit later. The body is the MRC/Fujimi model found on Ebay. I have a crappy camera so the pic really doesnt do it justice.

Wow, it looks great!!! Did you have to mod the wheel wells or was it a perfect fit? What are those rear tires?! You should dye the chassis red! (or try my CF idea).

Thanks TinyRC! well the only thing i had to modify was the rear lower roll pan, had to cut two small slots for the body post screws and trim off the middle part of the pan even with the rest.
then I drilled body mount holes after windows were glued in and that was pretty much it. I tried to get the model kit wheels to fit the hubs but they wouldnt. tires were the same size (and perfect replicas of Pirelli PZero) and made of good soft rubber as the mini-x ones but rear tires were wider. I jsut glued tires on to the optional mini-x rim set i bought and painted inside the rear tires (along with rims) silver so it looks like rims in there, looks a lot better than the pic shows. Thing handles great with those wide tires, I cant spin it out..LOL.. I tried several other model kits but the wheelbases werent close enough to work, but this one was perfect fit. no mods of wheelwells were needed. I think I'm going to use your idea and do the chassis red with carbon-look suspension. I will take more pics tomorrow of more of the car and post them. oh and I got the bearing set today in the mail (yay!!) thanks man!!!

I got mods!

Hey guys,
I have finished a few more mods on my Mini-X. I painted the RX-7 body orange and installed the new Novak Spy speed control. And just so you know, the Novak is a bit faster than the stock ESC. I can do donuts very easily on my kitchen floor and the brakes make a big difference. Here is some pics...let me know what you think.

Mini-X info

Howdy catman25,
which mini-x did you order? the RTR or the base kit? I bought the RTR and dont regret it,real easy to set up and modify. I also bought a spare base chassis kit just cuz it was so cheap. You can dye all the clear parts any color you choose using the RIT dye used for tie-dying tshirts, you can find it at craft stores. You just put the dye in a pot of boiling water for a bit with the parts, thats all there is to it. its easier to do this on a base kit without any of the electronics attached, then add the parts afterwards. You also can get a better speed control like the Novak SPY for about 55.00 at tower hobbies. this site carries some spare parts and also Dinball has lots too. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the 6cell battery from this site, it at least DOUBLES your speed. the 4cell pack is fairly slow, good for learning to drive it. also get bearings if you dont have them already. here is the official Mini-X website for your pleasure.

http://www.rc-xpress.com

you can search for 1/24, 1/25 scale static models at your favorite hobby shop or store and with minor mods it will likely fit the mini-x so you have a choice of cool bodies. Tamiya and Fujimi make the correct size bodies that dont need much mods to work. hope this helps ya.
