More Homeade shock spacers
Inspired by another member I looked to my lego collection to make a shock spacer. The lego peices had to be slightly drilled out to fit over the shock body, but other than that it is a perfect fit. In the picture with the 3 plastic peices, the two in the back are the original ones I wanted to use, but they are a little too large and they make the springs bind. The small one in front is what I settled on. The springs set perfectly on them.
As a disassembly tip, to do this mod, you only have to remove the upper screw on the shock, and the one that holds the shock cap on. You do not have to remove the lower screw if you don't want.
I will report back in a few minutes with driving impressions.
Edit - I went outside and drove it on the pavement for the first time after this. It seemed the rear had a bit less traction (which would be a by-product of the stiffer springs), and maybe bottomed out less. I can't be sure on those because like I said it was the first time on pavement. I will do my next run inside to test better. I tried it out inside and over some small ramps. It seems to be a little better, but I am still not tottally happy with it.
